Having a remote control artificial device constituits as a robot. There are very,very few robots that are completley automated.
I can't understand why people keep bashing these Japanese hobbiests ('oh they're not robots, they're just toys!'). Guess what, it's a freaking game! They are toys! They're having fun! A huge amount of work goes into those semi-automated walking machines and people just write them off as 'not -real- robots like in hollywood'.
Perhaps you're right, but having forkage and new standards pop up make a psuedo darwin effect.
This way new ideas are encouraged.
I know it looks bad on the face of it, but this is not closed source software, it is open source - and telling people that they can't/shouldn't fork software is fundamentally wrong.
Gamecube as a LAN box would be uber cool!!1!
Unfortauntely it looks like it'll take quite a while before it will be a reality, but the potential is there.
Seriously though, having a few weeks or even a month on a four year project extra isn't bad at all for project management.
Especially when you're dealing with creative always new technology.
At least HL2 isn't akin to Duke Nukem Forever.
