  1. Re:No AirPort Extreme on New iBooks and Apple Store · · Score: 1

Yeah, but it's more expensive. Buying an 802.11g card would be stupid when I could get an 802.11b card for cheaper, if all I'm gonna run into is 802.11b bubbles.

I'm glad. Most of the world uses 802.11b anyways, and if it's $20 cheaper, I'm all for it.

Here's a little story. Joe Clueless would walk into his local computer store and see two HP computers. One is running Linux, and one is running XP. Joe obviously buys the Linux one because it's cheaper. He takes his new computer home and shows it to all of the little Clueless's. They try to install Deer Hunter on it with no luck. They try to install Quicken on it with no luck. Little Bobby Clueless tries to install his pirated version of Photoshop with no luck. They take it back to the computer store to say that it's broken. They walk out a few hundred dollars poorer with a bad idea of what Linux is. Until Linux becomes a solid Desktop OS solution for everyone, it is better off having it this way.

Yeah, I agree. Kiddie porn and crashing planes into large skyscrapers are a God-given right.

You're missing the point. Kiddie porn would be on the internet, and the internet is not supposed to be censored. Killing people/other terroist actions are still very much illegal and so is having sex with a minor. Building a website telling people how to make a bomb isn't illegal.

Well, not only the lying, but the poll was also asking slashdot users if Windows was their main OS. Many people on slashdot I'm guessing use Windows at work (with Office most likely) and Linux at home, and thus call their main OS Linux.

Wrong. The majority of /. readers use Windows. Besides, even for those of us who don't use any Microsoft products at all, it's always good to know. Keep in mind slashdot is News for nerds, not News for Linux users.
