Linux has some real momentum and the kind of marketing behind it like the UNIX world has never seen. Plus it has an unbeatable price:) But in terms of technical merit, Linux is not the Uber-Unix lots of people make it out to be. Not yet at least...

But this article does conveniently leave out lots of little tidbits like how the GNU project has given a huge wealth of programs, knowledge, and experience to the BSD movement. The omission of GNU from the article and its affect of BSD is almost apalling. And last time I checked, linux ran on more than 'a few' platforms. Something like 10 or 11 I think. True, it's not quite the 22 NetBSD boasts, but it's a _LOT_ more than most can claim.
