First off this isnt flame bait because not many people are going to argue gators side on this message board. That spyware company gets on cour computer and breeds its own nasy wasteland in your memory. If it wasnt for lavasoft's adaware those SOB's might have a chance. But they dont... not on my linux box atleast.
Why would they not "upgrade" to the increadable "secure" and "functional" C Sharp? LOL but seriously, PHP is a good move. I have seen alota sweet stuff done with PHP as of lately. -Geek
Overall they are both better than running windows on any machine. I dont know much about linux on the Mac, but if it can be duel booted with mac OS X (im sure it can) then that would be the ultimate config. Then you got the best of both worlds. and no m$ -geek
When you think about it. It could also be very benifical to companies that supported it. Especailly corps who have not yet done anything open source. Anyone agree/disagree with me? -geek
Yes this is the ultimate complement for a developer of wine. When somthing as complex as klez (find out how it works at http:\\www.sarc.com) can run. Thats pretty impressive. I wonder what kind of effects it can have? Could this even be a new target audience for the lamerz that write viruses? -Geek
I dont know if you have ever heard of BrainShare but if you search it online you will see that many people are fully aware of the power of Novell. My company installs novell servers for clients frequently and I have noticed lately that Novell servers are starting to be added to new networks and even mixed with NT Servers' networks. So i must say that the release of Netware 6 while not advertised widely definitly didnt go unnoticed. -Geek
Well microsoft has done a linux conference so Mac seems like the next plausable victims of "the party pooper brigade" (hey that has a nice ring to it) -geek
Its doing somthing or expploiting a feature that is not publicized by the manufacturor. Therefore it can be, and is concidered a hack. I cant belive apple still has there 802.11b card at $100. That price isnt going to stand once 802.11a and 802.11g hit the main stream. Then the "WiFi" model will fall in price. I wonder if this hack will work with 802.11a cards when they are released in great numbers. -Geek
Is slashdot really an orangization? It could be argued either way. But there are some corprate ones that should not have a.org address. I think that they should start to really crack down on people that own all of the top-level domains with there name. Mabey with this new change in power somthing can be done about it.
With all the piracy in Asia on products like windows how hard would it be for one of those "bandits" to slip a virus into the installation process? Since there buying it pirated who they gonna whine to? Microsoft? LOL! If those "bandits" arent alread slipping these viruses on there illegal copies look for it to start happining soon. -Geek
The high percent of Piracy wouldnt matter if they made it cost $$$ (or whatever currency they use) to update virus definetions. Make them sign up and account and give them a unique #. When they update they only get the viruses that have been added since last time that # downloaded an update. Therefore if 2 people share a number then they effictivly split there protection 50/50. Yes they could get around this. But its worth a try. -Geek
When the news breaks that they have sucessfully done this everyone should start claiming Throbing migranes induced by the Movie. If enough people did this and could convince enough people it happens then the whole technology would be labled as a bust. Who would have the last laugh then? -Geek
You are 100% Right, They should not have taken a Side in this little Battle btw MPAA and the World. And if they did have to take a side I say it appears they have taken the wrong side. On top of that, this is some wasted money here, The people that do this priacy are always adjusting to the MPAA's lame attemps to stop them. So i gues that brings me back to the point that the origional Poster on this thread is right. Rock on dude. -Geek
Slashdot is widly seen around the web as a realable source for information. The fact that several stories on this site have been picked up by other news media outlets and have qualified for grants isnt amazing, its pretty obvious when you concider the amount of people that read this sites stories. Just some thoughts.

In reply to this Slashdot story larry ellison was quoted to say, "We did what? GPL? Open sorce? And what the hell is Firewire?" -Geek

No way it could be this unstable and running on a linux box. Id guess its running Windows 3.11 for work groups with a 3rd party webserver. -Geek
