    Now is the time for developers to _seriously_ start working on killing holes in Linux based applications. As linux adoption continues to soar, so will the number big problems. It could leave a black eye on the community if we have a BugBear/CodeRed/Slamer type incident. Everyone should audit their code often so a cracker can't audit you first.

    Mac OS X is lacking in it's UNIX core. Fink is ok and all, but it's not great (IMHO). This will help spur competition and drive both products to mature and grow on the Mac platform.

    Will there ever be a NVRAM camcorder? Flash is getting cheaper every day. And camcorders are ususlly subject to vibrations and shock. Seems like a HDD would lead to problems.

    I think that's pretty insightful... However, I still believe that the primary driving force behind price drops is to eliminate excess inventory for updates that are coming down the pipe "sometime".

    Yes, conflicting reports... But it's always safe to assume that when Apple lowers prices, their main goal is to clear out inventory for a new or updated model.
