  1. a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor on Red Hat & Centos On Name Usage · · Score: 2, Funny

CentOS is an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution derived from sources freely provided to the public by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor.

    That sounds so ridiculous now....

  2. userland and config scripts on SMP Now In OpenBSD HEAD · · Score: 2, Interesting
I wonder if these CVS changes are enough to support good SMP. At least some userland utilities should support SMP and some of the config scripts that generate make files will probably change (if not autogenerated like automake).

It would be interesting if it scales well so that it really makes sense to use it. The trend goes to some "double core" CPUs, too...

The problem in the future might be that there is limited capacity for the wifi spectrum on the one hand and that for short time usage (at least within Europe) UMTS beomces affordable...

In Germany, text messaging (as we call it SMS = Short Message Service) was free within the eplus GSM network (started 1994) was free for all users until they introduced small fee (a cheaper rate as now!).

At that time, some phones were even only capable off recieving them (or just resetted if you sent "large" SMS with 160 chars).

So try to calculate how much 1 MB of transfer it costs with texting. GPRS is a little bit cheaper (at least in Europe) and UMTS will cut some costs as well. Problem is that you can not send direct messages as all the data connections get private IPs within their networks (and they firewall a bit)

Another point is that the media can identify itself as "DVD ROM" or "DVD+R DL". The newer "DVD+R DL" seems to cause trouble with DVD Video Players.
