I wonder if these CVS changes are enough to support good SMP. At least some userland utilities should support SMP and some of the config scripts that generate make files will probably change (if not autogenerated like automake).
It would be interesting if it scales well so that it really makes sense to use it. The trend goes to some "double core" CPUs, too...
a free internet with proxy, maybe bandwith limitation and no security
a pay as you go option with no limits and security
a montly billed agrement for people who are using it on a long time basis
The problem in the future might be that there is limited capacity for the wifi spectrum on the one hand and that for short time usage (at least within Europe) UMTS beomces affordable...
In Germany, text messaging (as we call it SMS = Short Message Service) was free within the eplus GSM network (started 1994) was free for all users until they introduced small fee (a cheaper rate as now!).
At that time, some phones were even only capable off recieving them (or just resetted if you sent "large" SMS with 160 chars).
So try to calculate how much 1 MB of transfer it costs with texting. GPRS is a little bit cheaper (at least in Europe) and UMTS will cut some costs as well. Problem is that you can not send direct messages as all the data connections get private IPs within their networks (and they firewall a bit)
They are refering to Bayes a lot, beside really simple stuff like "hashing an paragraph with MD5". That is like making an patent on the progress bar (that exits too!)
I wonder how often they will introduce new sockets for just a bunch of CPUs.
939 will not support dual CPUs, after all that "Slot A", Socket 7xx/9xx nonsens you cant just buy a board and hope to upgrade the CPU. They change the memory systems, introduce new bus systems (graphic : PCI->AGP->PCI-X/PCI-Express).
Anyway I like my Athlon64 and at least the TDP (Thermal Design Power) of the new CPUs does not rise....
Interesting is that it covers "7 times" of what a normal air tank covers. As amateur I would assume that it takes similar time to cover the burning area, it just takes makes re-fitting faster. It is probably harder to fly as whell.
Beside that the chemical and biological "homeland" security aspect is ridiculous. You dont have such planes equipped in time fight such attacks.
I wonder why mirror business seems to be such a big problem. All the university mirrors and they seem to competiting about having mirros. What about a dedicated cluster from a group of universities in each network? Or something like a proxy group.
Beside the universities large IP network operators should have mirrors at least for their own customers as this would reduce their bandwith.

The teenagers refused and threatened to beat anyone who "dared to check identity cards." They tried to force their way into the cafe but were stopped.
So now the have gangs walking around trying to get their internet and assault security staff from checking their ID.
Probably not very intelligent to mess with the staff of an internet cafe.
I wonder how hard it is to get internet access by just dialing up or using wardriving/company internet access in China...
I refer Images to something where you can actually can see something. These look like rendered bit-stacks I remember from old intros. (plasma-effect).
Until this probe in January brings something where you can actually see something these pictures are useless like some radar-telescope probes from a "new found star" somebody might have found.
I just pointed out that having all the nifty frontend stuff that MS has will it make more likely that user might migrate. Does PostgrSQL or Firebird provide such GUIs ?
The LAMP, OSS, free, easy stuff is just not what I was talking about. But flaming about MySQL is probably an easy if you have no other argument.
If the Open Source Databases implement equeally features that some applications might need, they can profit from the situation.
MySQL Control Center is a step in that direction (client side) if they implement some more features on server side M$ centric customers need, it could get Microsoft into trouble in the future (some years)
As con I would think is you have your girlfriend around you the whole time. Even if its just your mother or brother, could you say them I will cut your loan or this was dumb like you might could with a stranger.
Of course there are some pros, like she knows you and what drives you mad, so she might do the coffee like you want it;)
Of course you can never have enough wikis. Question if how different they are and how they will do moderation (if they do)

We want to find artifical life forms, not only water.
Another interesting point is probably a possible power source so if some of the nice red rocks contains a substance that is able to generate engergy, that would be better.
As long as there is not enough input (broadcasters) that provide HDTV stuff and suitable devices (HDTV TVs or video projectors) I would not invest a dime in HDTV.
As with DVD they will probably change the standard or remove and add some crappy copy protection. So if you buy stuff now you will regret within a short while...
A laptop is a interesting part to steal as a video projector, a car or a nice watch.
More importent than the fact that you alert yourself "your PC is stolen, wakeup" is that your data is safe and can not be read by the thief.
Hard disc encryption (at least your homedir with your ssh keys, pgp key and other sensitive data) is more importent than a buzzing alert that gets turned off like car alarms....
Beside Domains Google-Spam (pages filled up with pseudo text and keywords) is a lot more worse than the need to change the interface. All that companys that use stupid scripts to generate content should be detected by google and removed.
I wonder why they did not find an algorythm/AI-logic that detect such link-farms.
Interesting is that they sell a licence for a part of the code.
Imagine some other company thinks if they can brake GPL, we sell our part of the Linux Kernel for because the kernel contains that an evil OSS developer added to the linux source
I wonder why it takes so long to get SCO to learn that they are violating a licence, not their customers!
There is many stuff forgotten by the Mars boom within the last time. The Moon itself has no station/unit on it (at least there is no information offically).
Some of the moons of planets are interesting as well. It is hard to draw a line. It is good to have redundancy as you see in the Mars case, as well as we learn to make long dinstance missions.
On the other hand we oversee many of the close stars/trabants which want to be explored

It is only for US anyway....

I forecast hereby even it is only the workstation SCO will someday find some "unix" code within the Oracle Code.
Wrong double layer firmware for NEC burner
Basically NEC insists that the laser needs calibration for such kind of update.
Another point is that the media can identify itself as "DVD ROM" or "DVD+R DL". The newer "DVD+R DL" seems to cause trouble with DVD Video Players.

will they also label the CD-R as hot as they do with coffe cups in America?

Setup a VPN or tunnel.
Of course for a large userbase a simple "encrypt session" button would be ideal.

Microsoft thinks about realoading Windows XP (like Win98 SE) so if they would recalculate, even the Microsoft Plan would have to change, too.
