    Never use ssh+password. Always use ssh+PKI. I think you missed "key" and focused on "[no] password"

    From Ubuntu wiki SSHHowto:

    If your SSH server is visible over the Internet, you should use public key authentication instead of passwords if at all possible.

    My thoughts exactly. In all fairness, their menu has an item "About US" though.

    I guess people say that Gates is a "marketing genius" because they don't want to believe he's a real geek and they have to come up with some explanation for his success. If you've ever seen Bill Gates do a presentation you'd know how absurd this "marketing genius" belief is. Steve Jobs is the marketing genius in this business.

    Nobody said he was a gifted speaker or a dazzling showman. He plays the market very successfully. Not fairly - as reminded by the paper.

    But on the other hand, every strand of DNA I own was once received from somebody else. And I claim to be the only person entitled to copy my DNA in any way possible - can be lots of fun... Now, how could I claim copy-paste ownership of things that existed for thousands or more years?

    Monsanto and RIAA want the same thing (IP) with opposing logic (copying is creative work - copying is evil).

    For some reason I've always had a soft spot for Sun, although I can't pin point why.

    They're an engineering company. They create things.

    By contrast, most other companies (in IT) are about market capitalization, i.e. they are run by MBA's helped by marketeers. They buy stuff and call that innovation (Oracle, Microsoft, CA,...) I think Google is in the same category as Sun. Car manufacturer analogy: Ferrari vs GM.

    Just an opinion...

    It's been about 3 years since I worked with Oracle (10g RAC), but Toad and SQL* are really terrible tools. Now at least they have the MySql Workbench

    And MySql TCO calculator will probably vanish very rapidly, since Oracle cost is compared directly with MySql...

    His user name means something similar to "clumsy oaf" in Flemish/Dutch, so that would probably not be either US or China. But it's possible...

    But I think OeLeWaPpErKe genuinely buys into the commercial-marketing-fud spread by large corporations, their business model depends on it. Although lots of them have come around more or less recently.

    I've always had the impression it resembles the Stockholm Syndrome, people identify with the party that is harming them.

    When it comes to exploits vs browsers, mail clients, IM clients, document viewers and such the OS isn't the issue.

    Once such an app is compromised, that's when the OS can make a difference...

    That depends on how hard you need/want the product, free market, you know. A heroin addict would pay any price for a single dose.
