Hint: when a blind person comes across something that requires sight, their level of inconvenience isn't slightly raised. They cannot access it at all.
Hint: Some old people cannot access the *internet* at all, because they can't get to a library/can't afford a connection/are too afraid to use a computer. Does this mean it's right for lawyers to get involved? If you say yes, you're probably a lawyer.:-) They're only a small minority of people who would benefit from the internet. I could pull out a million other examples, for a million other services.
I always thought it was called a sun roof because it let you see the sun / let the sunlight into the car more. It doesn't seem to be incorrectly named at all. Moonroof would imply that it lets you see the moon, which it rarely does whilst driving, and it only as valid as sunroof.
Well actually, yeah it is. All I see in Google is a load of cars WITH moonroofs.... I honestly have never heard of one, nor can I see what the hell it is in the pictures of those cars, not can I see any moon roof definitions. So what is it??
"passing through" technologies are like fart--they last for a while, making you uncomfy, but they go on their own. Linux is like shit--somebody has to clean it, or it's going to stay there and stink all day!
That must make Windows like a sewer pipe with a leak, then...
Wouldn't this make criminals out of most people running a computer? Not only Linux, but I'm sure quite a few Linux utilities, 'ideas' and other OS freeware utilities and 'ideas' have probably been patented, yet there are people running software that implements these ideas, around the world, that has not been licenced. Don't they realise this obvious fact?
Patents cover IDEAS?? OK, so software patenting would make it impossible to write a piece of code without worrying that you may be infringing on a patent. What do they expect you to do, get a lawyer to do a patent search every time you write a new program, or addition to your program?? This does seem like madness. Didn't they actually think about how much this idea would hinder the development of new programs?
I have yet to fully understand the problem that software patents cause OSS. Could somebody explain it a bit better to me? It seems to be that the opensource ideology is that *EVERY* piece of code in an OSS program has been written, ground up, by a developer who has licenced the code to be opensource. This can't possibly infringe a software patent; the opensource program is different in substance from any patented program/code, and was written seperately.
It was my understanding that originally, Linux was written by Linus Torvalds and a group of other opensource developers, who licenced it to be opensource. If Linux contains 'some areas' of the kernel that are patented, why can't some opensource developers just rewrite them, and licence them under the GPL? No patent infringement, no lawsuit.
What is the issue here? Although this rather reprehensible change in law would make it easier to be granted software patents, how would it make stuff like Linux illegal?
I agree, it's good they're threatening to sue Labour. But a cultural beacon? Listen to Radio 1, 2, or 3, or any of its TV chnanels. What a load of crap. ABOLISH IT NOW!!!!!
Maybe it pisses people off that they have to do a hard job, maybe one that they don't even like, that is high-pressured and requires them to produce results on time, just to earn a living. Mathematicians, by contrast, seem to get it easy, just being paid to sit around all day thinking, and "if they help society then so much the better".
What is the point of region locking anyway - if I buy an imported version of a game, they still get the money, right?
Perhaps they can't get away with selling it for as much in another country, so you can buy it cheaper there. Or perhaps they want to postpone the release (and hence, ability to play the game) in your country for a while, so that demand is greater when they finally do release it.
All in all, it's a fairly safe assumption that the point of region locking has to do with 'assholish greed'.
And what happens when a member of the society doesn't wish to leave the society, but wishes to stay and cause havoc, and generally be a nuisance? Do you use police to discipline them? If so, the Police are no longer equal, as they have more force.
Al Jazeera is reportedly starting an English version of their news channel soon. After watching a documentary on how they reported during the war, I think watching that might be a good starting point.
I think that 1 track gets you ready for the next and that listening to an entire album is the best way to listen to music, not just picking single tracks that dont flow off each other.
And I think that's bullshit. A very, very few number of albums are written in this way, because if they were, the singles on the album couldn't be marketted seperately. When I listen to one of my albums, I *always* skip the tracks I don't like. I've listened to them all, and they sure as hell don't build off each other. They can all be listened to seperately, with no loss in appreciation of the music. And I don't think my albums are at all different from the vast majority out there.
I don't think Alanis Morissette is 'manufactured'. I like several of her tracks (Ironic, Hands Clean, etc)... just because an artist is with a big record label doesn't automatically make them 'manufactured'. Didn't she actually sell music because some of it was *good*??
If it's so damn necessary to listen to the whole lot at once, why don't they release it all as one very long single? Because it's not *that* necessary to listen to it all at once, that's why. If a track is independent enough that it can be released as a single track, they have no right to bitch about people *buying* it as a single track.
In the meantime, remember that an artists control over their own material is one monopoly that most everyone should be wiling to support. Done right the shift to digital distribution should be about increasing their control, not about ending it.
Not necessarily. It's about giving the artists a more direct payoff for their work, and hopefully encouraging them to produce better music, but I would hope it's also about giving the music *consomer* more rights, too. For example, if an artist, let's say Madonna (she seems to be a bit of a bitch about this) wishes to force people to buy her entire album even when downloading it, instead of just the individual tracks they want, she shouldn't be able to. IMHO.
why don't you spend that time making money to spend on a faster processor?
Damnit, why don't you spend that MONEY you spent setting this shit up on a faster processor? These people are mad, mad. I barely notice the noise of my CPU fans. If you can't get used to that noise and eliminate it, you'll start to get annoyed by other noises. Cars, the wind, PEOPLE. This strikes me as a very bizarre way to be spending your time, energy and money. I don't understand it.
Although or blind and deaf, you're still out of luck.
Yeah. The Deaf and Blind Association of America should sue Hotmail. They're clearly discriminating against deafblinds!

You'll be able to get a moon roof for free
MOON roof? WTF is that? Over where we live we call it a sunroof. Do you live in Antarctica?

Note that in pretty much every country outside of the united states, a ',' is used in place of '.' in these numerical figures.
Yep, with the exception of Canada, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and much of Asia.
Nah. Here in Blighty we'd write £212.19.

Actually, i'd read that as 'the patient passes well, after surgery.'
So they had constipation?
Perhaps you would be intrested in my sig.
