  1. Now I can look really important and irritable on More 3D Printer News · · Score: 1

Whenever a client visits, I can print out a cell phone and have a conversation with another firm on the phone, get really pissed, and throw it into the nearest available wall or pool, scaring the client into better business deals.

Whereas this used to just happen in movies and commercials, it will surely become common practice as people figure out they can produce their own cheap cellphones and have random violent outbursts at no cost to their full-fledged photo (and blog!) making phones.

It came from weblog, i think. Probably someone decided the whole weblog think took too long to say, and that blog sounded more chic and minimalist, and stuck with blog.

  3. Great idea on Blogging With Camera Phones · · Score: 1

Combined with the cameras on phones, this would be a great technology... Instead of all text (or mainly anyways) blogs, you could easily snap a photo of yourself during a class or eating lunch and embed it in your blog. Although some blogs are boring as sliced bread (Sorry, I'm too tired to think of a simile that makes sense), photos would certainly add spice to those that are fun to read, and a new dimension into reading about others' lives.

You could do the same thing with a camera, but good cameras are larger, so why not use a nice cell phone to take pictures, blog, and add pictures to your blog all at the same time?

Its about time fractal people got some credit. They've been used recently for everything from cell phone anntenae to benchmarks for PPC processors to models for Jackson Pollock paintings to realistic landform and plant generation. Fractals are surely one of the coolest things humans have made up (or discovered depending on your viewpoint), and I'm glad Mandelbrot is getting an award.

  5. Re:Utter Bullshi-ite. on The Speed Of Gravity Revealed · · Score: 0

They said gravity was a particle... Assuming that and nothing else, no Doppler effect should appear, because doppler effects occur in waves due to their peaks and troughs getting compressed or expanded relative to a moving object. If the graviton is only a particle, then there follows no logic that dictates a Doppler effect must be manifest, just that the speed of light is how fast it travels. I am assuming that all special relativistic physics also apply here, including the fact that the graviton's speed appears constant, otherwise it could move towards you faster than c (When you're moving towards it)

If it is just a normal relativistic particle, than there's no reason why it must have a doppler effect. Before dismissing things as BS, you may wish to think a little bit.

  8. Why Complain? Apple gave us Mac OS X on Reprieve for Booting New Macs With Mac OS? · · Score: 0

Why would anyone who had the option to use Mac OS X not do so? You can do so many things that were once completely off limits to mac users, and do more things at once than before. Perhaps its because I own a MP 533 G4, but my UP 800 G4 eMac is just as fast, and I've observed uptimes in the range of 2 weeks, only ending there becuase I needed to install an update. You have the new developer tools, a whole slew of command-line functions, beautiful projects like fink, and the best GUI I've ever seen... Does it really matter if we have Quark or not? The way I see it, they really don't want us buying their products: The advantages of Mac OS X far outweigh those of Quark Xpress.

  9. Why does DRM matter? on QuickTime On Your Cell Phone · · Score: 0

The way they say Apple's quicktime 6 doesn't include DRM security measures makes it sound like a bad thing. Why is it that today the masses won't accept a technology without adding some ridiculous "anti-pirating" measure onto it? I think anyone should be able to play any movie regardless of who they are or where they got it.
