  1. Other retailers doing this... on Preference Engines Side-Effects in Online Retail · · Score: 0, Interesting

Hey Guys, after reading this article I figured I would let you all know... Best Buy has its Reward Zone program which not only tracks your buying habits but labels each customer depending on whether or not you purchase their service plans, accessories, services (deliever Geek Squad) etc. When I was still working there I thought it was a good program, give money back to the customers for allowing us to track their buying... But now... Labeling customers and offering them things BASED on that.... Whatever happened to sales that attract all customers not ones who only purchase what you want them to?

Well after reading the review and the few comments posted so far, I have decided to purchase one of these on my lunch break at the local Apple store. Although, I do need to agree with everyone else... when will apple make this bugger scratch proof? I would be royally annoyed at scratches on my IPod.

I size has mattered to me. I don't want to carry around some bulky thing... althought he scratching on the IPod would be rather annoying.

YAY for retail... and if you want to know my opinion on Worst Buy... don;t go there don't suppoer the discriminatory company!

OK.... Not that Star Wars has made its way into a religious structure, why not Star Trek? I think if Darth Vader is going to be a Gargoyle on a catherdrale, I think the head of a Borg would be suitable as well. I think the Borg would scare me more than Darth vader on there. What do you all say? Anyway back to my AI class.... ugh lol Josh http://www.ussamazon.com

well, here I agree. I am on my dell (I'm going to hell) in my Graphics in C++ class right now (why am I the only one done with my work?) and I must say my dell does have "hibernation" problems and takes a good 30 seconds to wake up if I close the lid. It is annoying. I was in History and I had to shut the lid and lost a good 50 pages of notes. Gotta hate that. Long live the Penguin!

It is a VPR Matrix notebook which is why there is no Porsche notebook. No offense to you but geeze everyone, we all have went over this.. the porsche company that did this is NOT the car company. The car company would probably put out the laptop as looking as some sort of bubble or something since most cars are looking like that. Although a bubble like laptop... interesting concept... hmmmm

You know, I hardly ever post on slashdot... actually never but I do check out the site at least 5 times a day to check up on news that effects the computing industry.

What people are saying here is slightly disturbing. I work for a BestBuy, in the computer department... I know that won't hold much ground but I do know what I am talking about. The VPR laptops are actually pretty good. Sure they run windows, but you must remember the average idiot customer will not care. What they want is the best hardware out there and I think VPR is hitting on it pretty good.

I personally put the two lower end ones on display.. they are a little on the heavy side, but I still believe they are better than the Toshibas and Sonys we sell. Well... one exception.. the new Sony laptop with a built in DVD+RW... I think its plus maybe minus I forget...
