i agree that the titles are not as widespread as they could be, i could not find the Mac OS X for Unix Geeks at B&N last time i was there, though they did have over 15 books on os x, including both versions of The Missing Manual and the O'Reilly Cocoa manual.
i really think that promoting the Unix side of mac is pretty foolish considering much of the linux community is more than comfortable ostracizing mac users, despite darwin being posix compliant and for most intents and purposes able to run the same programs as *nix...and many more.
now if i could only get slash to work with my apache setup...
i was feeling dangerous when i turned on BSD configuration files in Directory Access.app and set up my standard hosts file, and started using CPAN, sh,./ , and apt-get for the bulk of my installs. i sure feel dangerous.
if you can get a machine that is anything better than a barebones for 600$ AND slap a windows xp license on it, with a monitor, sound and firewire (gonna need that for a camera, eh?) i would love to buy one. i have an ibook i paid 999$ for last month that is half decent for video (at least capable at some speed) and i do not have to suck satan's pecker to use it.
macs are not 3000$ unless you factor a studio dislay and the finest model, with overpriced memory and hard disk upgrades. the dual 1.xx ghz is 2700$ and that is over 16 gigaflops of pure danger. their are zero intel systems you can buy on the desktop market. alienware, dell and micron will not build you a machine compareable and they will charge just as much for their top end desktop.
you can't knock apple on the price. you are standing with a pabst in your hand telling the world they are fools for drinking guinness, which is like sex in a can.
i think that we shouuld all hold out for a.net collar that can keep track of where we are and what we are listening to. one convienient package that fits snugly around you neck, that would be the way to go.
i think we could all easily find out exactly what planet cmdr taco lives on. i reckon his.net site could prolly give you a better idea. what's more, it was highlarryous, so quit your whining and stating that because ms has their fingers everywhere means they do a thing right.
though minesweeper is a really good ms app, once you learn it, but ms-bob on windows 2000 is my most stable rig for speed
