No I'm not arguing theft of anyone's property. For one they are using the argument that copyright laws should be extended and technologies that disallow non-copyrighted materials should be mandatory on consumer devices ignores which avoids the fact that copyright laws were intended to foster development of new and good ideas, not to ensure greatest industry profit.
Like I said, the only way to fight this issue is to spend your money on the alternatives. Then the industry will look at it and say "Well if we could attract these guys back we could make $X billion".
One can also choose to argue against the new legislation that the industry is trying, with mild success, to enact into law.
I agree wholeheartedly that the human race should get some colonies into space. I'm thinking a small Martian colony as a stepping stone, which would, admittedly, take many centuries to develop. This way, even if an Earthly disaster befalls us, we can still explore and spread throughout the universe. Survival of the human race for the furtherment of science is of the utmost priority!
Sorta like if Drug Czar Barry McCaffrey were to debate Garry Johnson of New Mexico. I want to see it, debate always fosters openness and discussion of the issue, but the party in the better position usually has no reason to accept.
