    We have a WiMax connection in the British Virgin Islands. The latency is 2000ms and is virtually unusable for anything else.

    There is an easy way to enable it. Open /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist and change Quartz2DExtremeEnabled to yes.

    I used to drive home from az to colorado and back for school 4 times a year, ~ 16 hours. I used to put my generation 1 imac in the passenger seat beteen the dash and the seat with the screen facing up. Powered off a 175 watt inverter that eventually melted my battery cable. Then using an fm transmitter and the same remote he has, i had a 40gb juke box!!.. now i have an ipod with the itrip radio thingy.

    Is it about money, or wasting energy and killing the environment. Seti reports 4,710,399 users * an extra 50 watts each = 235,519,950 EXTRA watts assuming each user is only running one machine... That is 231.52 MW!! for one project!!! FYI a typical nuclear plant produces 1000MW. What do you think the cost to build a nuclear power plant for four dc projects would cost both in the $$ amount and environmental factors? Not to mention the electrical grid is already stressed.

    My roommate and I used to run DC in the winter in my dorm room because we had no thermostat in our room (central heating/cooling for the whole building). ASU refused to turn up the heat so we turned on all the lights and cranked up the computers to keep ourselves warm. Of course, in the dorm, you don't pay for electricity... its included!

    As far as I can tell, there is no offer of a free Panther CD in listed in the benefits offered by the student developer program. I believe it specifically states that student developers will NOT be included in apple seed programs. Please point me to the sight that shows this is true.

    Actually, Apple designed many of the supporting chips that are important to the 1GB fsb. Very important. I would tell you which ones but i am too lazy too look it up. Try Google

    The title of this article made me think that is was about the fact that only music can be purchased online. Why not movies (too much bandwidth) textbooks, magazines, photos etc. What about physical objects that you could print out? Imagine buying a new computer online and having it ten minutes later after you print it star trek style. Then you get to the real question: how do you keep the user from printing the computer again?

    I have surfed at a beach near San Clemente, California where there is a giant NUCLEAR plant that uses sea water to cool it. Somehow i think these will be better for the fish. Unless you like blinkey... (mmm three eyed fish)
