    Yeah but try convincing your customers to install Silverlight and watch as they laugh your salesmen out of the house.

    That's what Gitlab is trying to achieve. Personally though, I think your deploy process should be so straightforward it's easy to deploy your software anywhere.

    So no, there's no conspiracy and Dolby isn't doing this to screw anyone else over. "Blame" the content owners if you want to blame anyone, but Dolby is just trying to provide a consistent experience that has eluded folks for decades now.

    I completely disputed your main point. If you don't believe in God a priori, then there is no reason to believe he created Pluto in particular. You had no answer to that.

    They messed up on Minecraft, too, completely dividing the community by making incompatible versions. Not cool.

    To be fair, it's not a good idea to use a lot of these services because they lock you into the platform, and because Microsoft has a habit of discontinuing stuff after hyping it (Silverlight). Of course, you don't want to get locked in to AWS if you can help it, but containers can help with that.

    That's not true, most of the first world is under replacement.....which means Europe and US and China will be replaced by cultures that do encourage reproduction.

    Recode's Code Conference, which just wrapped up here in Palos Verdes, is the gold standard of US tech conferences.

    It's not the "gold standard" of tech conferences. What do you think tech is, a place where celebrities try to make news by drinking a lot?

    Oh, yes, apparently that is what you think. Even though those are business leaders and not tech leaders, people don't go to these conferences to hear news, that's what a newspaper is for. They go to hear the ideas of the speakers, learn from the minds they presumably admire.

    A real tech conference is more like DEFCON or Abstractions.io or SIGGRAPH. People who speak actually understand tech, not how to market it.

    As long as we're on the topic, $500 is not basic income in any part of California. It can buy you a blanket and pillow, but the rent for the square of sidewalk you want to sleep on will exceed that.
