Technically and realistically, single threaded performance is the most sought out requirement. The only reason processors switched to adding cores is because they couldn't get much higher performance in a single core. Adding a core improves performance of some tasks: speeding single thread improves performance for all tasks.
Norway didn't implement price controls. Norway doesn't mismanage their oil production like Venezuela does (resulting in a dramatic drop in output). Norway doesn't have a president who steals money from the people, while blaming it on the Fed, but people like you believe that kind of lie, so keep it up. Can you even name one good thing Hugo Chavez did?
The difference between Norway and Venezuela is tuat Norway doesn't have to borrow money because they didn't spend it on stupid things like trying to buy elections in Honduras.
A doubling in clock speed is always better than a doubling in cores (all other things equal). The only reason we're focusing on cores now is because single-threaded speed hasn't been able to increase much.
The big issue in Venezuela isn't the price of oil. With good managememt, Venezuela would be like Norway right now. With moderate managent they could be like Costa Rica. It's been a stunning display of mismanagement in that country.
(I can't imagine the MS would sell itself for a fair price.)
If that happens, it would turn out like Yahoo did: a lame-duck negotiation process that they can't win. It will be a long time before that happens though, since Microsoft is still growing.
With Silverlight: they never should have tried to convince people to use it in the first place. It was a bad idea and people who built platforms on it are dumb (or at least, they made a mistake).
The main thing is you can't trust Microsoft to continue supporting something, because often they don't.
I honestly don't understand why people are outraged. Maybe it's because they are worried Microsoft will do the same thing they didnto Minecraft of Nokia.
Built for managers who are afraid of losing control, not for programmers who want to get things done. (In slight defense of the managers, a lot of programmers are kids who won't get stuff done if not constantly prodded)
Github has paid plans for people and companies that want to keep their source code closed. If you don't pay github, you have to open your code and let people fork it, or host somewhere else.
When I participate in developer forums, I find they tend to become better when the emotional, irrational, outraged developers leave. I remember when there was a "boycott slashdot" week over beta. When those people left, it was like a breath of fresh air. The average quality of comment went up (and I say that as someone who disliked beta). Having an emotional attachment to a platform, company, or website is irrational by definition.
Your argument is flawed in that it says the conclusion would be invalidated by the method by which it came about
The conclusion isn't invalid: it is a viable explanation for the creation of Pluto. Your problem is that there are many viable explanations for the creation of Pluto, and there is no particular reason to believe that your choice is the correct one out of so many.
so you instead try to back track into my history and motivation.
I already know your motivation: you are a devoted Christian. I don't need to figure out your motivation. I'm more interested in seeing if you have any interesting ideas. If not, then that's too bad.

FlightSimLabs said, "I would hate for lawyers to have to get involved in this,"
ROTFL that's when you can be sure that they are going to lose a case and they know it.

Microsoft is doing their best to make Windows a platform people don't want to run to.

That's cool, but comparing clock speed between different processor architectures is mostly meaningless.
Apple’s developers aren’t perfect and don’t know where they left things like buffer overflows that can be exploited.
Having looked at the kernel code, I would suggest they aren't trying very hard.
Venezuela is what real socialism looks like when properly executed and given no opposition forces.
Really, it's not.

A two percent drop in demand? Have you seen the price of oil? Do you know how wildly it fluctuates? Wake up.
They used to be tech related. Lately they have gotten so bad, I gave up.
"that machine is 8 years old, just replace it already"
And yet it still has a superior keyboard and a superior lack of a touch bar.
the FSF requires copyright assignment so ironically the FSF could kill GPL for all projects it provides
Note: they couldn't kill it for any code already provided, just for future code they decide to write.
Adblock. I don't even see the ads.

That is really unfortunate, I am sorry that happened to you.

Atlassian is a strong potential target for takeover, too.
Wait until you see how you feel when Oracle buys Microsoft. :)
