    Even U6 is down below 10% now, so unemployment isn't a problem right now. It will be fixed just like every other social problem: late, after it becomes a problem for so many people that they are willing to vote for it.

    Apple should have used the argument that they sell devices which run controlled sets of software, with part of their product being a best-effort attempt at device security via application white listing managed remotely through the Apple store.

    They might still argue that. This was only a ruling that allowed the lawsuit to move forward.

    Yeah, that's good, it takes more skill though, because you the performer are responsible for managing volume level (breath control, as singers call it). Usually I set the compressor to be just strong enough to smooth out the performer's (mainly me) unintentional volume spikes.

    90% of recordings are really poorly mastered. and half of the ones that are properly mastered

    How does one learn to properly master a recording?

    You don't want kludges in your pacemaker. There's a time and place for them, but that's not it.

    Specifically, you are leaving your fingerprint on the very device you are trying to log in to. If a thief wants to find it, he doesn't have to go very far.

    I don't trust the FDA. I know what you are talking about, I've worked in the medical device industry, and it's a serious pain to get device approval, and the approval doesn't mean the code quality is good.

    That said, I trust the manufacturers even less, because I've worked with them. If you let them do easy OTA updates the way we update cell phones, you'll end up with a bunch of people dropping dead on February 29th.

    Its no better than buying media now

    That's mostly what I do.......I watch TV infrequently enough that it's cheaper to just buy the ones I want to watch on Amazon or something.
    For the shows that are unavailable this way, I don't feel bad pirating.

    When Microsoft can figure out what the customers want, they jump to give it to them (note: average users are not necessarily customers, businesses are).

    Remember when everyone was complaining about Microsoft's security issues? Microsoft actually did an admirable job cleaning up that leaky ship. They still have bugs, but compared to before, when running a Microsoft OS was basically an invitation to come inside.

    Weird thing is, Microsoft did the smart thing first. Apple just had a better UI (specifically, browsing the internet was about 10 times easier on an iPhone than a Microsoft phone/PDA).

    Though I will say that having a bunch of older staid men working together is not as exciting as having some young coders collaborating with people from University of Arizona

    The older gentlemen (and women, presumably) are much more likely to do solid, high-quality work.
    What is the University of Arizona doing in this field, though? Anything interesting?

    It makes sense, considering the good things Cook has said about augmented reality. Quote:
