Ok. As I was reading this, I figured I'd do a test.
Now,
I've got 20 different Firefox 0.8 Browsers opened, with 8 tabs in each [my.yahoo.com(logged in),drudgereport.com,delphiforums,com(logged in),maximum-suzuki.com(logged in),googlenews.com,reviewjournal.com,slashdot.org( logged in),deadheadfred.net] and I am seeing some slowdown on my debian gnu/linux box with 1 gig of ram, swap disabled.
Now, it isn't crashing, although it is a bit slow. But goddsdamnnit, I've got 160 different webpages loaded!
BTW, I also have 13 Konqueror browsers open, with 8 tabbed windows in each as well. (normal activity for me) as well as Gqview with a slideshow running, 2 instances of Gkrellm, one shell console doing nothing, 1 kuickshow window opened, Kmail running, and 3 XMMS instances running.
So, in comparison, firefox does use more CPU/RAM then Konqueror does with the same pages/tabs opened, IMO, but I'd like to see 160 (or really 264 including Konqueror) I.E. browsers opened, and still have a functioning machine.
I do still show 232 meg of RAM free in Gkrellm, Free shows 234 meg of RAM.
firefox is using 38% of CPU according to top, and 18.3% of memory,
X is using 55% of cpu, and 18.8% of memory
Athlon XP 2500+
The same system, with only 1 Firefox browser opened, [I closed all the other firefox windows while still entering this information](with 8 tabs still) and everything else still running.. firefox= 1% of cpu, 18% of memory, only when I'm actively typing.
free RAM according to Gkrellm=241 meg, according to Free 246.788.
Interesting, I still haven't gotten my RAM back. (five minutes later, I've been letting my system idle, swap is disabled) although firefox cpu usage has dropped to below 1%.
Agreed, 2001 is awesome in Widescreen, and the only version of Eyes Wide Shut I can find is full screen, with a ?commentary? saying that Kubrick shot it to be viewed fullscreen. Whether that's true or not, I dunno, since Spielberg finished the film for release.

I watched all three Indiana Jones movies on DVD, and found they are chock full of what the prequels lack.
As far as I could tell, there were NO stupid re-processing of special effects, every cheesy face-melting, truck fliping-but-able-to-see-the-flip-mechanism effect was still there.
Spielberg didn't Fux up them that I could tell, and obviously didn't let Lucas screw them up either.

a. Pass on the left hand side.
Funny that, I just experianced the exact same issues with fedora over rh9, (both upgrade and full wipe install) and installed knoppix to hdd this morning. apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
and twenty minutes later I have a totally current system. I like kde better under debian also.
now if I can just get my audigy 2 card working under debian.

The users in win2k pro default to the 'power users' group, which has some root access. as opposed to the 'restricted users' group which does not have any root access.
I beleive xp pro works the same way, but it's been almost a year since I had to work with xp pro, so I won't claim this definitively.

I've just made the switch, from RH Gnome, to KDE 3.1.
Amazing desktop flexibility. the ability to change anything is my favorite aspect.
I really really like KDE,
hopefully I can figure out what is hogging my resources, 1 gig of ram should be pretty hard to bogg down to the level of accessing my swap file.
Happy Birthday KDE!
I adore XMMS, for playing my large (230 gig) collection of wav and mp3's, it's fast as hell, and random kicks ass compared to anything in the microsoft world. I could care less about what the skins do, I have simultaniously got GQ view running all my 10k images on random.
funny, different strokes,

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I did not know of this product. Suhweet! jaz

I still remember it.
at 8 years old, it didn't suck, but I bet it would suck if I saw it now.
The Cartoon with Boba is what I remember best.

Drudge was sorely lacking, even after the press conference, drudge didn't have anything on his website about the capture.
the press conference was at 4 am pst, and when I crashed out at 5 am pst, drudge still had nothing.
he got totally scooped on this one.
