If the Philips Coffee Machine was indeed in the Evoluon from 1966 to 1989, then that copy of the machine can't be the same one that was installed in the OSC during the 1970's-1980's. My brother and I have very clear memories of the machine at the OSC during the 1970's. We also know from the OSC themselves that they didn't throw it away, it's in storage and needs parts.

NASA posts all astronaut photography on its website in a variety of resolutions, including the original full-size file. Usually within a day or so of the images being taken and transmitted back to earth.
the larger the image size the easier it is to print postcards of it or manipulate it for profit.
and in terms of bandwidth, a few hundred K might not seem like a lot but when you have hundreds of thousands of visitors each day, it makes a difference - especially considering the website in question, boston.com, is a newspaper's website - and we all know how well newspapers are doing these days.

someone tells me the new version is significantly faster than the previous one, that's my main complaint, sure I'll switch. And yes, it's faster than Firefox on the Mac side so it was a no-brainer.... at least until a faster version of Firefox comes along.
I think it was good of Apple to let people know this is coming. Firstly it protects their customers from losing functionality and secondly it lets the hackers know the update is coming so they can take account of it and design a workaround asap so people with unlocked phones can do the firmware update safely. It's not as if people are being forced to do the update NOW NOW NOW... they can simply wait a bit (like a week tops) for the hack to be updated.
Honestly. Does anyone really believe the Cisco lawsuit announcement isn't just designed media theatre to ensure that the words "Apple" and "iPhone" stay on the front page of the business section (where Crackberry users will see them) for the entire length of the CES, overshadowing Microsoft's limping attempts to publicize Vista?
Even if Cisco is doing this on their own without Apple asking them to do it as part of the iPhone's debut strategy, they are doing it because Apple knows they will do it. Wants them to do it. The money Apple stands to make from the iPhone far outweighs any legal costs associated with buying the name, under suit or otherwise, from Cisco/Linksys.

I think bandwidth and copyright concerns have more to do with it than the size of people's monitors.
