Maybe I'm just old, but a car that accelerates from 0-60 in 1.9 seconds is almost too much for everyday use. I would be constantly trying keep it more like my sedate Subaru in everyday traffic.
To be honest compared to the usual themes of modern "mass market" films, Blade Runner 1982 or 2017 is probably too deep for a mass audience. Seriously comic books are considered deep these days.
Most people is prime movie going age don't even know about the original movie, don't know who Harrison Ford is, or know about Philip K. Dick. The 50+ crowd for home the original was canon, probably aren't making a huge effort to see the move opening weekend, and are likely to wait for it to stream.
I still use an iPhone 4s because it has retained its battery capacity over all those years. If I had confidence that the iPhone X would last equally as long I might consider it. Sort of like buying a pair of Alden shoes, you can wear for decades with simple resole. Over time its more cost effective than buying $80 shoes every year at DSW. That said my 4 year old MBP already needs a battery replacement for the "glued" in batteries. No more MBP's for me. The cost is not in line with the expected lifespan. For something that expensive, the consumable components like batteries should be user replaceable or removable.
Self driving cars are a death spiral for car companies.
The liability will be too great. Every accident will be the "car's fault" and result in litigation. Eventually a software bug will bankrupt one of the car companies.
They are primarily useful for "fleet" sales not consumer sales and will kill profit margins.
Sure, he will give it all to a "foundation" that he and his progeny can live off of tax free in perpetuity just like Bill Gates while employing an army of public relations teams to amplify the tiny percentage of the wealth spent on others to huge levels.
This is a win win for Z. He gets credit today for "giving it all away" without actually giving it all away today.
The "war on terror", fought in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Somalia, and Pakistan has cost over $6 trillion, and resulted in complete strategic failure in each nation.
You would think the fact that the US has failed in every shooting war since Vietnam would be enough to convince politicians that the "military option" is the last thing they want to do. They would be better served to gut the military budget because clearly believing that they have the "best military in the world" leads them into wars they never end up winning.
Iran will have a bomb in 7 years, and Saudi Arabia will trigger the clauses in their deal to fund Pakistan's bomb development, and will instantly get a competing bomb. Russia will make bank selling the manufacturing technology and the delivery systems.
Provided the entire Middle East doesn't go Mad Max in the next 5 years, joining Syria, Libya, Iraq and Yemen in Chaos.
I like a simple, analog, mechanical watch that i can use to tell time and navigate with. Anything by Sinn, old Certina DS-2 Chronolympic's with Valjoux 23's, Porsche Orfina Lemania 5100's, and Seiko 6105's are my favorites.
Smart functions will simply consume too much power to make the watch useful, and god forbid it gets as hot as my phone does when used.
Maybe its just me, but not only do I not really want a smart watch, I'm losing interest in my smart phone as well.
Give me a vintage chronograph with a Lemania 5100, Lemania 1341, Poljot 3133 or any Valjoux movement and I'll be happy. Nothing is cooler than a mechanical watch with an analog face.
In all of recorded human history, how many Cities, towns, villages, settlements or even individual humans have been directly killed by a meteor or asteroid impact?
The probability of being killed by a nuclear weapon is higher. This is simply a case of NASA creating some hype to justify continued budgets for a "space" agency that can't go to space any more.
Time to use cash. This is where this is heading...you or the person who stole your CC info buys a pack of cigarettes, and a few months later you get a nasty 40% penalty on your Obamacare premium. You buy some artisan, unpasteurized yogurt with your card and an FDA swat team raids your house, taser's your girlfriend, shoots your dog and stomps on your parakeet. After 10 years of buying books on Amazon, you finally hit the magic combination and the NSA deems you a terrorist, and your new girlfriend, dog and parakeet suffer the consequences.
Umm. He can check out and go home. The end would be quick at that point. No one is forcing him to stay in hospital and get treatment as long as a living will or power of attorney has been completed.
The problem with "government" allowing assisted suicide is that governments rapidly move to enforced suicide to deal with expensive treatments or those political undesirables with "life not worthy of living". Every time the state has been given the power to kill it uses it.
Gee. The bullet is brass copper and lead. The barrel is steel. I guess old school guns with wood stocks would be undetectable as well according to the periodic table in Mr. Schumer's world.
For less than $4000, anyone can get a gunsmiths metal working setup, and build any gun they want. In fact its perfectly legal for anyone to build an firearm with no serial number as long as its not an NFA restricted weapon like a machine gun and it is not for sale or transfer.
I worked my way through college as a Foreign Affairs & Defense staffer for a US Senator, graphic designer, campus Sun workstation sysadmin and bartender (all at once sometimes). The Vax, Sun's and Mac's in the various jobs gave me the computer bug, and was completely self taught from there, barring some non-degree math/programming classes I've taken over the years. I've worked for 20+ years in IT for Fortune 100 companies. I've not had any interest in doing what I originally planned to do for my career. Go figure.
A typical tea party type has more in common with a classic 19th century "liberal" than a modern "liberal".
A modern liberal has more in common with a 20th century collectivist (marxism, syndicalism, or corporatism) than a 19th century liberal.
A modern conservative has more in common with a 1930's progressive.
A modern progressive has more in common with a 20th century totalitarian (fascism, Stalinist communism).
All results of re-branding by the various ideologies after their various catastrophic failures.

Almost all science is wrong almost all the the time and that is how it should be. Scientific discovery advances as much through failed theories and hypothesis' as it does through proven ones. Looking at the history of the golden age of physics in the 1900's, everyone was building on the failed ideas which had the effect of narrowing options to more likely ones, and focusing effort.
Maybe I'm just old, but a car that accelerates from 0-60 in 1.9 seconds is almost too much for everyday use. I would be constantly trying keep it more like my sedate Subaru in everyday traffic.
It is just harder to surf porn on linux than it is on Windows.
Online and client-based games run better on windows.
How can you chat up underage citizens without access to the full suite of social media tools like snapchat, instagram, tinder, grinder?
Jeez, don't post while multitasking, "The 50+ crowd for WHOM the original was canon..."

How about loosing their cyber weapon arsenal to hackers?
How about having hired Snowden as a contractor?
How about missing every single terror attack?
How about missing the Russian infiltration of Crimea or move into Syria?
How about rendition, secret torture camps, public exposure of torture?
How about perpetually killing civilians with drone strikes based on their "intelligence"?
How about missing the fact that Bin Ladin was living around the corner in an allied country for 10 YEARS?
How about not finding WMD?
And they are losing credibility due to leaks? Please.
On top of the above the 1% market doesn't want a Ferrari that you don't get to drive.

Some places in the world will require petrol for the generators to charge their electric LandCruiser 70's and Hilux's.

My bet is on Mad Max.
Current wind farms are already decimating migratory bird populations. This will finish them off.
