I'm always curious about that survey. Wouldn't it count two graphics devices in most systems? Intel integrated and then the discrete NVIDIA/AMD card? I always buy without any integrated video because it has bit me in the past but it can be hard to find the perfect mobo sometimes.
The percentage is minimal but the dollar amount is not. The studies also average north and south regions together or cherry pick whichever one produces the numbers they want. Usually the north saves a lot and the south spends more. Take that how you will.
Natural Selection 2 is a fantastic FPS. Pretty much brought NS1 back to life. There are some great RTS and 4X games out there. Not only that but there are so many indie games and mods to explore : ) You don't need a fancy computer to play great computer games.
Not sure about airforce silo babysitting but soldiers can cat-nap one second and be shooting accurately at targets the next. But you do lose all situation context, which is very important. Instead of reacting to resolve a complex situation, you take one look and go "WTF IS GOING ON?!".
Imagine waking up, your hands on the steering wheel of a car, heading into oncoming traffic. I think you'll become alert and react VERY quickly : )
You've obviously never been in any US Military branch. Homosexuals have always been soldiers, airmen, and sailors. It is now legal for a gay soldier to tell their foxhole buddies which side they are batting for. Everyone already knew, just couldn't talk about it.
Yikes. It sounds like you are saying criminals (the smart ones) are the ones using secret comms. I would argue that it's the smart non-criminals using secret comms to protect themselves from criminals. For example, do you feel comfortable putting your credit-card info into a form on a non-ssl site? I doubt it. You use secret communication to protect yourself from criminals, because you are not stupid.
I suppose that is true in an environment where only friends share with each other. But in my experience they are posted to public areas to gather attention. It's always an interesting moment when you scroll down and see that famous goatse image stretching across your screen.
Linux is not a user experience or UI. It manages all your drivers and resources. You must be talking about a userland graphical environment? You can actually run linux with nothing but a text commandline or with triple monitors, it's up to you. Android is not any more stripped down than what i have running here. You compile the kernel for your machine, it is very slim. If you want to use the "everything and the kitchen sink" builds then they aren't very big either. Everything is loaded as a plugable module. You just have a lot of compiled modules sitting around, like every other OS.
Your opinion is certainly valid but seemingly uninformed.
Fact is, every person who isn't immunized, and every person who isn't educated, and every computer that isn't up-to-date, patched, and secured.. is a liability to us all. I'd say most of the time they are a liability to themselves and merely a nuisance to others who have to support them.
FF and Chrome auto-update now. If you are on IE 8 or 9 you may experience some problems. http://caniuse.com/#agents=desktop&cats=HTML5&statuses=wd SVG appears to be supported in IE 9 so if you are XP and stuck with IE 8 you'll have to use a different browser. I didn't look at all the tags but SVG stood out. IE should not be tied with the OS, you should be able to update it independent of the OS version : /
The Windows OS is built to work with a very wide variety of hardware configurations. Have you seen the list of hardware linux can run on? Windows ships with drivers, yes, but it depends on hardware manufacturers to ship their own drivers a lot of the time.
VA was a decade ahead of your private hospitals until regulations brought them kicking and scream into the present. All records are digital and shared between all clinics and hospitals. I could get an x-ray in one room and walk into the next where the doctor could bring it up on a screen to look at. You could visit a clinic in another state and they'll have all your details. The doctor could send your scans to a specialist if he had a question. No need to schedule an appointment for something that takes five minutes. No need to visit a records department or stand in a queue. No need to fill out a form, unless it is for consent (sign here, please). Every time i visit a civy hospital and they are carrying around clipboards with papers attached to it i shudder. They want you in and out as quick as possible too. You're lucky if the surgeon speaks to you for more than ten seconds before he starts cutting on you. "It's this arm, right?" Then he'll scribble on it with a sharpe. Yikes man. There's no way the VA can compete with high-end expensive hospitals for staff though. They simply cannot afford to pay medical personnel that much, unfortunately.
For comparison, the next time you visit the doctor, count how many displays you have in your exam room. If you see a light board thing for x-rays, it had better be vestigial. If you see your doctor writing scribble onto some papers then just pray that someone knows how to read his chicken-scratch years later.
Sorry i'm ranting but you really made me frustrated there. You just have no idea what you're talking about. I would love it if civilian hospitals were run as well as the VA ones. That would be fantastic! I only had access to the VA for a few years and really do miss it.
I agree with you, BC2 was great! Skipped BF3 because it wasn't for sale on steam. Was hoping that if enough people didn't buy it they would put it up for sale on Steam. Might have to install Origin for BF4 : / Unless DayZ:SA comes out, then to hell with any other FPS for a while.

That's because as far as normal users go there are virtually no Linux users to target
So it's the user and not the operating system then? Because Linux has a lot of installs.

I'd say bourbon and pot are more associated with the state. Also chicken, i suppose.
Anyone else notice that leaving noscript on shows you all the answers and just gives you the badge?

lol. There is a console even capable of 4k?
A reinstall would just waste your time and put you right back where you were. Linux is not like windows where a reinstall fixes things.
Seems like it wouldn't affect the market more than 3 or 4%

Can't tell the difference from normal digital screens and imax? I love the imax : )
Hold it in a delivery queue, just like email and other messaging services.
You still have newspapers? We have billionaire's blogs that are distributed as hard-copies.

I don't think anyone has made negative remarks about such. It is well known in the US Army that the French make great weapons.

There's quite a few dead US soldiers buried in France. If you are able, you should volunteer to help maintain a cemetery or two.
