Please explain how you're gonna get 2.5 feet of snow off your roads if you don't give money to your local government, then please. Are you suggesting the money to fuel the plows and pay for the salt and the guys driving the trucks grows on trees or something? (just an example, I don't know where you live)
Haha.. you're a fucking idiot. You pay OVER HALF of your income (assuming you have one) on taxes each year already. State tax, federal tax, sales tax, use tax, etc, et-fucking-certera. Not to mention your Social "Security" which you may as well just be throwing in the trash. Fuck this country, support the Free State Project.
Makes me wonder what the top ten rarest PC games are...
Jesus.. makes me wonder if anyone on Slashdot has a fucking brain any more. Rare PC games? How the fuck exactly would you measure that, and why exactly would a PC Game be rare? Have you ever heard the term "abandonware", and seen the hits on those sites? No? Well, then you're in the right place, for Slashdot is where clueless, dickless, thoughtless fucks go to die.
I imagine there is about 10x as much free software for windows than there is for Linux. What a stupid comment. Open-source zealously to new, even stupider dimensions.
Yes, everyone is interested in doing something for free. Until they find out that they can get paid for it. Then your geek puts on a suit, and goes to the bank!
Yep.. I'm a big fan of Sun, but you're absolutely right. If this were Microsoft there'd be all these smart ass comments about Microsoft screwing up: again. As if Sun hasn't been insecure since the beginning.
Yeah.. getting a bit tired of hearing every review of a movie adaptation of a book going straight to "The book was better". If the book is always so much damn better.. stop watching the damn movies.
The Union Protocol is open source, fool. Nowhere is it written that a union must suck in exactly the way you describe. Why not fork the protocol, and implement a much better version?
What an insightful post.. seriously. I always thought about unions in IT, and I always thought about them only in the ways I have seen them implemented (CWA.. ugh). But you could form a union which is much more reflective of the cause-and-effect attitude that most (serious) IT workers possess.
The only good aspect of the union I was under is that there were certification tests you could take to increase your pay, but it did nothing to address the problem of people on your team literally sleeping for 7 out of 8 hours, and people who transfered from some other position after 20 years to sit and "look at computer screens". No one likes trying to take up the slack for a bunch of paperweights.
If the reality turns out to be as good as the appearance, I definitely plan to reward EMI in two ways:
1. Buy all their music in my collection that is not as yet paid for, and 2. Stop sharing it -- since there is now a cost-effective and convenient way for anyone to get it for themselves.
3. Providing them with oral sex, whenever it is demanded of you.
I must be a bit anal about sound quality and find even 128kb/s a bit lacking - the Grado Labs [gradolabs.com] SR325s [gradolabs.com] I have at work are almost a bit too for my own good in this respect. So I'm not too much into music piracy and do often have gigs left of my 3GB monthly ADSL quota.
Did you go to school to sound like a dildo? Or are your parents both just dildos, or what? Jesus.. I've never READ something that reminded me so much of the nasally, whiney, jewish character from South Park in my whole life.
While this may be a joke or something.. it is a serious matter. CPU speed is very rarely the aggravating factor in a bottleneck piss-you-off fest any more. While everything from the CPU, to the FSB, to the memory, to the fucking peripheral ports has gotten faster.. the hard drives still crawl along, dragging their balls in the gravel screaming for the rest of your PC to wait up.
With so much memory available for so cheap.. it's a shame modern operating systems and applications still don't make the most efficient use of it.
What do you think it would take a motherboard manufacturer to make a board that utilized the "Turbo" switch and linked it to an adjustable BIOS setting for overclocking? Imagine, doing mundane desktop work, leave the thing off. Building a new kernel, while burning CD-ROMs and playing UT2003, hit the button and instant overclock; no reboot necessary.
And with all of the money you'd save from keeping it off most of the time, you could save up to buy bullets for your gun. And shoot yourself.
I used to work for a small PC builder myself. About 5 years ago.
We had so many bad fujitsu drives that the store stopped by any of them. I have told every person I've met since then what pieces of crap they are, but obviously I didn't tell enough people. It's sad that they even MAKE hard drives any more. I didn't even know that.
I have had plenty of bad experience with Western Digital, and very limited bad experience with Maxtor. For the "Value" brand Hard Drive.. I would always go with Maxtor.
The optimization you describe seems to target transfer rates more than latency.
Yep, that's the real problem. "Geeks" don't usually like to address any problems though unless they're trendy problems. Neon lights, and cooling solutions (for systems that don't warrant it). You can have a 500MB/Sec bus for storage, and never put more than 40MB/sec on it because of the shit drives that are connected to the other end. It's ridiculous.
I used RAM drives in DOS about 8 years ago. Why wouldn't you just add the RAM to your mb though where your access to it isn't hampered by your shit-slow PCI bus and save yourself the couple of grand for some hookers and beer.. something everyone here could use more of.
OK, a "Talking Tina" doll that acts the part during the airing of a Twilight Zone would be funny the first time around
By "act the part" do you mean give robotic oral pleasure on command? I would like a doll by any name that would do that, and surely it would be ejoyable beyond only the first experience.

All it takes is mention of the words "case fan" for Slashdot to get a hardon and proclaim the story "news worthy".

They're probably behind this too!
I can name about 10 adults and even more kids with the same experience.
Please do. I want to send them all flowers & chocolates.

Will my Internet work faster if I get it?

You should get a dildo patch for best of show in the who-gives-a-flying-fuck-department.

Can someone please tell me how to remove this pop-up ad that's sticking out of my ear? Everytime I think I've gotten rid of it it comes back.
Apply herpecid cream to the area with the rash, and stop scratching it. It took this to learn that sleeping with prostitutes was a bad idea?

...we will see a large variety of animals go cracy...
Animals in Mexico go cracy, animals in America go crazy. If you read the article though, you'd realize that no animals will be going either.
Hooray for the first systems to implement this being destroyed by buffer overruns sent by short range pirate stations placed along busy freeways.
"Word, I've got root on that guys pioneer premier!!"
I only hope Mozilla can make a popup blocker for my phone.
If your phone was running mozilla in the first place, you'd have much bigger problems than advertising.
