    You also didn't get it. The OP wasn't suggesting that generalizations should be used in specific situations; instead, he was suggesting that when we look at the makeup of an entire career field, instead of being fixated on why a particular group is underrepresented we should just make sure they are not being prejudiced against.

    I seem to remember an episode of Star Trek where they ended up in the armpit of space such that they couldn't get a Federation navigation signal. They used pulsar triangulation to get a fix on their location.

    Now, of course, implementation of this theory in the 21st century is a different matter!

    How many countries give their police full automatic weapons, but won't let the citizens have a pump-action shotgun in their house?

    How many countries outlaw religious garb because some terrorists wear it?

    How many countries kick you off your farm, tell you where to work and live, and execute you if you speak out about it?

    How many countries can stop and search you for no reason whatsoever?

    In how many countries can the police come into your house at any time and demand you list everyone who lives there, who they are related to, where they work, and what vehicles they drive?

    I'm not sure why you think it's immoral to legally collect one's entitlement. I can't help but notice that all the celebrities and politicians who say taxes should be higher still take all the deductions they can on their returns. I'd take the SS too, and donate great heaps of money to charities. The government is not a charity.

    A lot of them had their retirement in 401Ks that were mismanaged, and had too much risk. If they continued to hold, their funds have now recovered only slightly above 2009 levels and thus they could be five years behind what they expected to have.

    Obama's the one who has, unilaterally and probably unconstitutionally, removed employer requirements from the bill and waived hundreds of companies. It was the Supreme Court that determined the Federal government couldn't make states run exchanges. No Republicans need be involved. And your blaming it on racism is childish and stupid.

    Gas was less than $2 a gallon in 2008-- a mere 5 years ago. About $1.70 in my area, as I recall. Now we're used to the new economy, and the ruling elite wants us to think it's always been this way.

    I'd like to know what you believe is inherently wrong with subcontractors that requires having an already oppressive government intervene.

    The worker should have the right to say I don't feel safe doing this with the tools that the contractor gives them

    The workers are already paid by the hour, and again I ask you: what makes you think this is a job for government? Adults should make safe decisions.

    Correct. I, myself, think it's immoral if you absolutely know your sub is compromising safety in order to meet your requirements. But if you submit a proposal and they accept, it's expected that they should deliver. It's their responsibility to determine what they can handle.
