Had to dig pretty deeply, huh? That's one dead against, how many thousands at the hands of Islam since 1998? When was the last time a "Christian" attacked anyone involved with abortion? I mean, if you like snipers since 1998 we had the D.C. snipers, and they killed several people in the name of Allah. Murder is murder, but I think we can agree which is more likely.

I doubt this is a major source of cost for the USPS. Most addresses along their route are either sending or receiving mail, so very little time or money is spent needlessly driving past mailboxes. If it was, they could easily implement a system where you had to call an automated system when you needed a pickup. Incidentally, UPS and Fedex do have routes to businesses that want daily pickups.

Most people still get at least some of their bills on paper. Having only one delivery a week would definitely cause some billing problems for customers, besides the fact that carrier routes would have to be redone to account for the volume-- because now he has a week's worth of mail. Know what your mailbox looks like if you go away for a week and place a hold on it? Yeah, it's going to be like that every week. And people's mailboxes, especially in apartments, are not going to be able to hold that stuff. Losing Saturday delivery is reasonable; going to weekly delivery is not.

You only pay taxes on your actual income. Your employer may be able to withhold extra (I'm not sure; I fill out my w-4 myself and thought that was required) but at tax time, you're going to put in your actual income. At least that over-withholding will come back. In addition, if you DON'T collect enough tips to earn at least minimum wage, by federal law your employer MUST cover the difference. There's no reason waitresses have to overpay taxes.

John Schnatter didn't "threaten" to lay off people as retaliation for Obama's policies. He was simply stating fact: Romney pledged to repeal Obamacare and doing so would be necessary to keep various regulations that would greatly increase the cost of employer-provided health care from coming into effect. Even if he hadn't properly crunched the numbers, it's what he believed and it's a reasonable response from someone who is responsible for keeping a business afloat.

Mostly, it poses the risk of creating an imbalance in the Senate towards the entitlement mentality: the Puerto Ricans who believe they're entitled to the wealth of the rest of the US, and the glad-handers in Congress that would like to take credit for being generous with OUR money.
