What's funny is that in America, we did things in a drastically different way just thirty years ago. Kids rode all over creation on their bikes, slapping together junk in the woods to build forts, shooting BB guns and .22s, and getting a lot of poison ivy and sunburn. Except for the poison ivy and sunburn, it was play that prepared for a future of work, productivity, and accomplishment. The "think of the children" types are thinking of themselves, not of the children!

  13. Not to mention that you need their box to view anything other than basic in HD; and they seem to make it as difficult as possible to watch the basic channels by scattering them all over the DTV band.

  14. And in addition to THAT, there is the introduction of new technology as "features" that don't ever become mainstream. They'll tell you that cable is $X per month, but since it's all digital, in order to actually watch your premium channels at more than one TV you'll need to buy another box (their revenge for not being able to change 'port' fees for just installing a splitter anymore) and to actually see the HD signal that every broadcaster has used for years now, you have to pay extra for an HD box.

Didn't know something like this existed.

It's existed for decades: the BBB. I successfully had my APR reduced from 19.99 to 9.99 with Chase. When I was out of work, they jacked it up before I could close the account at a lower rate. My complaint with the BBB motivated them to restore good faith with me. They are still pretty low on my list of potential lenders, but they're not on the bottom. The BBB won't be able to fix everything, but let's be frank: neither will any government agency.
