Just saw the trailer, and it looks VERY serious. There was absolutely NO humor at all in the previews. Looks very action-packed and, frankly, I'm pumped up to see it now. Can't wait until May 19.
The computer registration involves a process of identity verification in which a user is required to key in into the computer the correct Apple ID and password he used to purchase the song. This is certainly a patentable technology.
It shouldn't be.
User names and passwords go back to at least the 60's, if not earlier.
Today's crop of portable media viewers are too bulky to carry as comfortably as the iPod, yet have screens he said are too small to enjoy a movie the same way you would on a TV or laptop.
What about a video-out port so a consumer could play movies on a TV? There would even be no need for a color screen, and it would only increase the size very little....
This is stupid. It's not on Google's site, all other searches yield a 404, and if you click on "Images" then on "Web" again at the top, the images disappear. Editors, what were you thinking?
The record profits would have only been higher had they not lost millions to piracy.
Let's face it. Half of my high school population downloads full album MP3's and never buy CD's. As the younger generations come up, piracy will get worse and worse.
Only one movie is released by one company. If you really like a movie, you don't have a choice between companies--you're stuck with one. That's why we're at such a disadvantage.
This isn't such a horrible thing. State-controlled services aren't a good answer to anything.
I live in Tampa, where Verizon is laying down the FIOS line. They're running into all kinds of problems--bursting water and gas pipelines are all over the news. The cause? The city has very outdated maps and Verizon is running into undocumented obstacles.
Competition drives companies to produce better products. Please don't take this away from us.
There is short-term profit to be gained, which is all American corporations care about. They could care less about the morals or the long-term consequences, because they will not be alive when those consequences come about.
Companies like this will destroy the free enterprise we Americans enjoy. If these companies are not stopped, every startup company will be paying royalties to these patent pirates, which will keep the big companies in control (maybe that's the motive).
Indeed, that is where people like Linus Torvalds make an odds-defying explosion into mainstream computing. However, there is more to my statement than just programmer population. Quality also refers to program quality. Not half-assed buggy software that was hurriedly released because of a dealine, and then half-assed patches and updates that were also released on a deadline.
the mormons live a good live, aside from the people who attempt to make fun of them
The attempt of a utopian society was a failure. Fact. That is not making fun of anyone. It is a fact.
when in doubt, keep your flap shut...slut.
I am in doubt, and I'm ashamed I'm even bothering replying to you. I am in doubt of your intelligence. I am afraid your emotions are clouding your logic. I will give you the last word. End of flamewar.
And i still can't see the point of travelling to the moon or to mars.
I suppose humans are beginning to lose their desire for knowledge and technological advances in favor for money and profit. That's the typical American business attitude--short term profit. Fuck the environment, fuck humans, fuck the world--if there's potential profit, it will be exploited. The RIAA is tearing apart the legal system because they want money. Microsoft is buying out innovative companies because they want money. Anything innovative that is not bought out doesn't go anywhere because funding is not available for projects or ideas that are too risky.
I agree that lasers are stupid. But I'd rather my money be spent on something technologically productive, like that, than on feeding able-bodied homeless people and illegal immigrants. Of course there are legitimate homeless people that really are stuck--if I ever find one, I will gladly take him/her into my home. Otherwise, I let them dig their own graves. By supporting them you are saying to them that they can do nothing and still have plenty of food and water. I am NOT racist, but that's why it's hard to find a culturally productive African American--most are given handouts (not welfare, but reparations and special considerations because of their race, which is actually racist towards whites, but let's not go there) and those handouts make most of them content with being non-productive.
Great idea! Let's stop everything we're doing and focus on creating a utopian society.
We can get help from the Mormans, they did a good job of it.
10 billions of american dollars, this would help a great deal of people in need of basic things like a home, food and things more important than pr0tact1ng t3h us fr0m t4h m4ss1l3s!
Then we can all get together and feed the millions of Mexicans not paying taxes and the homeless people who are addicted to drugs and beer.
I'm surprised you find time to post on Slashdot--you should be out perfecting your physical imperfections and making sure you are immune of all sicknesses:\
You forgot that the most basic need is life. Without that, food and shelter is useless.
derEikopf, you're an idiot. The percentage wouldn't change, it's a ratio moron.
Michael Savage is the man.
In other news, America's population increases.

Steve Jobs did do real work with the iPod and iTunes--he didn't just say "do it" and it got done right.
People make more money with copyright than sales? How does that happen? The ONLY thing that makes iTunes and the iPod monetarily successful is sales.

If I remember correctly, I was taught in school that the government represented the people...
For piracy, it's just another brick in the wall.
The lines would be shielded. Ummm.....RTFA

Do you know any teenager that can stand being out of touch with their friends for even 5 minutes while eating dinner with the family? Yeah, right.
Me?

Capitalism isn't the problem either. The problem is letting corporations participate, as a corporation, in politics.

Microsoft will exploit its monopoly to beat the real innovator, Apple, at its own game. *yawn*

What the future of technology needs more than anything is the reversal of the quantity philosophy. More is not always better.
everybody else, could mean jack squat.

Almost everyone who is not LDS would agree that the Morman attempt of a utopian society was a failure.
Debating with you is a waste of time for me if you rely on name-calling to make a point. Grow up.
