This looks like just what I would want in a PVR. Linux is a robust operating system that is especially well suited to gadgets like this one. I've always thought that WinCe has too much bloat to be practical in this sort of application. With the DVD playback feature thrown in, I'm hooked.
Self Cleaning Pants.
It's about to be the year 2003, and we're starting to have the technology for the ultimate pants. I'm talking about the kind of pants that Sci-Fi authors of old dreamed of. We have the Dockers with extra pockets for our gadgets, and the Levis with radiation sheilding. And now with this substance we will be able to make The Ultimate Pants!
I see a utopia in our near future where the free people of Earth are released from the slavery of washing their gadget toting pants. Oh the luxury!
I have to agree with this. Though The Original Series should be due a little more credit, maybe 3rd place on the list. The Original Series not only kicked off the whole Star Trek phenomenon, but also spawned 6 movies. 3 of which are some of the best Star Trek to ever be released.
Also, Voyager was certainly not as strong as any of the other series but it did have it's good points. Good space battles every now and then, and sometimes even a good plot.
As I have a Klingon symbol tattooed on my right arm, you may take the above comments as somewhat biased...
Once I learned that "works like Photoshop" doesn't mean "acts like Photoshop" I started liking it a lot more.
That quite eloquently states what happened with me and the Gimp.
Photoshop is not the only thing that keeps me booting to Windows, but it's the main thing. I use a lot of Windows native graphics apps and I'm happier using them on their native OS than through an emulator. Since graphics is 98% of what I do, I don't have time to play with Linux.
Funny you should mention the Photoshop vs Gimp thing. Photoshop is the thing that keeps me on Windows. I've been using it for my graphics stuff for about 7 years now.
Recently I needed to do some graphic work and didn't have access to Photoshop so I downloaded the Gimp. Honestly, I hated it. But I've been exploring it's features off and on for a couple of weeks now and I'm starting to find that the Gimp is not as weak imitation of Photoshop as I thought. All of the most important tools are there, and the majority of them work as well as the ones in Photoshop.
Basically I'm finding out that the Gimp is indeed suitable for many kinds of real work.
Windows Solitaire had a boss key in the version that came with one of the Win2K release candidates. When you hit Esc solitaire minimized to a taskbar button with the Excel logo that said 'budget.xls'.
