I posted something exactly like this earlier. If its 2am in the morning and you hear your window break in another room and you got kids asleep just down the hall, are you going to stop to think "Gee, I bet this fellow just wants to take my dvd player" or whatever.. SCREW THAT..
I dont know about you but if someone breaks into my home, im not going to stop and think.. "does this guy want to just steal my dvd player or is he going to try to hurt me or my family?"
If someone enters my home, for the sole intention of taking something that is mine or to hurt me or my wife and children, you can bet your ass I'm wont even have second thoughts about shooting the bastard.
I have to take the side of the gun-toting people on this one even tho I may sound like I have that "good ole' boy" redneck attitude.
Guess we can send all the burgulars to Australia...they'll be safer there.
ya know.. i think its funny how people slam someone for a simple comment (which im sure this one will get me slammed too but oh well) and they do it under ANONYMOUS COWARD. takes alot of balls to flame someone when they dont have all that much of a chance to retalliate..
anyways, thats off topic. its very true tho. i know a kid thats 17 and (this was about 4-5 years ago mind you) he told me that he used to spam aol users with a mass mailer and he made roughly about $1200/mo. that alot of damn money for a 17 year old. for him that beat the hell out of flipping burgers at Mikey D's
i think you made some very valid points *BUT* are you saying that the feds dont look in on emails now? i dont want to open a whole other can of worms and tho im sorta new to/. im sure that its been discussed on here before. the goverment *DOES* check out our emails and i dont care if Carnivore or DCS1000 (or whatever its called) is supposed to only hunt down emails with keywords in them like "BOMB" or "Jihad" or whatever other keywords may be in their list.. call me a paranoid if you want. sorry for going kind of off subject here.
ya, personally i would like to move out into some secluded area in BFE and "attune" myself. but thats just not possible in this day and age (IMO). of course, even being able to get away to do something like that i would still have to have a broadband connection and my PC or i think i would go insane.
actually it makes sense to me. 90% of the email i get is just and having to look through all that garbage to find the few actual emails i want to ready is very annoying.
i kinda dont like the idea that we get to play worldwide babysitter.. if we cut back on all the troops we had in other countries, i would think that we could reduce the military budget. i can understand that some countries may need aid BUT: there should be a limitation to this. thats just my opinion, but im sure that someone out there has to think the same way
im torn between whether to use my spare cpu cycles to look of life in space (SETI) or crack code blocks....:)

the reason why they HAVE to have the speed war is the same reason someone else posted. no one looks at benchmarks while they are out shopping at best buy or wherever they go... mom and pop and the college freshman just look at the numbers.. a 2.7GHz P4 LOOKs better then 2.1GHz AMD and thats all that matters.. people dont know that a 2.1 AMD can spank an Intel in most "buisness application" benchmarks. no matter what type of advertising you do, no one will believe that bigger is not necessarily better.

surely if we can make a computer with that kinda power, shouldnt we just be able to transplant our brains into some "liquid ooze" and merge with the machine? i mean c'mon.. how fast does our brain compute? faster then 1.5MegaPetaHz?

have you seen the reviews on the new P4? that hyper threading needs some work. from the reviews ive read the hyper threading provides MAYBE a 4% increase..

it wouldnt even post/run half the benchmarks that they tried to run on it:)
hey, thats a good point. you dont see armed feds coming in when people split their cable tv to multiple boxes. well, now that i think about it they dont really hunt you down either if you use a router to connect your home network either.
maybe the goverment feels that any wrong doing thats related to the internet has the potential to be "cyber-terrorism".. thats the only thing i can think of.
pretty soon you wont be able to wipe your own ass w/o having big brother watching you (im sure they probably already know what brand of wipe you use, and the color of jockeys..)
That depends entirely on what that software is running.
"The article states that cd sales have descreased slightly over the last two years. While obviously some of this is due to piracy..."
wasn't Micro$oft saying that due to software piracy the cost of software has gone UP? something just isnt right here.

Yes, and the proper use of capitalization. >.

this gives me an idea! they could relocate all the telemarketers into fast food employees.. they would make more money at least :)
