  1. Re:Even better on the Macintosh on A Dual Monitor Experiment · · Score: 1

I use dual monitors both at work and at home, and can't live without them. At work, when writing web applications and such, I'll have a CocoaMySQL window open, several BBEdit pages (usually for PHP), my FTP client, and oftentimes a couple of terminal windows as well. And that's in addition to using Photoshop a great deal, as well as Dreamweaver where it is quite wonderful being able to have separate windows for WYSIWYG and source code.

http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/expose/ combined with all of this is cool as well.

Yes, dual 23" flat panels is definitely the way to go! :)

I don't know about that one, but the scene that I remember that I think is missing is right before Vader kills Obi-Wan. Kenobi says something like "Darth, if you strike me down, I'll be more powerful than even you can imagine." Or some such thing. The VHS that we have of A New Hope doesn't have that dialogue/scene in it.

I once bought a television from them and as I started to write my check the sales kid started in on the service plan and I stopped him and said he could save his breath because I don't buy service plans. He proceeded to tell me that he gets service plans on anything he buys. "I once bought a ten dollar phone for my dad and got the service plan." Uh, it isn't worth ten bucks of my time to drive back to the store to return a broken phone.... His final comment was "You would have to be stupid to not get the service plan." It didn't really register what he had said at first, but on the drive home it hit me. The assistant to the assistant manager in the television section said that I am stupid. I wrote their corporate office and bitched and got back a trite letter with no fewer than three typos. Nice customer service. I haven't been back since. G.--

Funny that I am moderated as the troll when I never made any comment regarding any other specific person on this website. I have a bachelor's degree from a pretty good university. I don't necessarily think I'm cool. I did used to run a bar when in college, however. ;) As far as humor goes, I think I do pretty well. And I can spell it the non-French way too! Ill-educated, uncool, and humorless. The penultimate definition of the British. Calling me non-British is *hardly* an insult. Have fun watching your Dr. Who-Cares. :D G.--

It should be called 'Dr. Who Cares.'

It was a lousy show when I was a kid. And I'm sure it hasn't improved.

The kids on the bus on the way to high school in the late 1980s thought Dr. Who was cool. The other thing they liked was to quote line-by-line the dialogue from the previous evening's Monty Python episode on PBS--another not-interesting show.

Dr. Who was brutal. When a six-year-old kid can watch a show and realize that he can create both better special effects *and* a more compelling storyline, it's time for the Brits to realize that the "tele" from their empire sucks--including their pathetic Monty Python, er, program. (And the only thing worse than the brits who think this crap is cool are the U.S. dorks that think they are both educated *and* cool by following British television....)

But the cartridges expired in more like 9 months to a year. The kicker was that I never printed many things using color. HOWEVER, if after several months the color cartridge decided that it had expired, the printer wouldn't let you print in plain black ink unless you changed the color cartridge. So even if you never want to use color, you still have to replace the color cartridge once a year in order to print black ink only pages. What a racket.

I run Photoshop 6 on WinXP every day and don't have any problems with it. It starts up quickly, and runs as good if not better and faster than version 5.5 that I use at home on my G4. WinXP might not be the greatest thing in the world right out of the box, but after doing service pack and other updates, it seems to work just fine. Of course, I don't have KaZaA or Yahoo Messenger or anything like running when I'm trying to work. :) G.--
