It's Google Python, Java/C# flavored. Time will tell if this language adds anything new and juicy to the market. As Stroustrup put it: "There are two types of programming languages: those that everyone's complaining about, and those which are never used".

  3. And this here on Slashdot because..? on Irish Judge Orders 13-Year-Old To Surrender Xbox · · Score: 1

I do not mean to be the iTroll here, but I honestly wonder how this story made it to the front page. The point was finally that the judge ruled that boy to give up something valuable to him, it could have been anything. Now it just happened to be an X-Box and *BAM*, it's here on Slashdot. Moreover, justice has confiscated computers too many times before to make the news flash complete. This article had even so made much more impression if the machine happened to be the tool of the commited crime or likewise, as it implies that the X-Box itself had something to do with the final judgement. However, so was not the case.

From there - you'll know the flavor of Doctor you like, and be able to make a more informed choice.

The nice thing about a Time Travel series - is you need not watch it sequentially!

It's not too picky to point out that it's Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant, and nothing else. Besides that, I fully agree: Eccleston -> Tennant. When you've melted the concept, you can choose to continue with the modern branch (Smith, 11th Doctor) or get back to where it all began in the sixties. The latter will turn you into a full Who-geek, as it is a much greater effort in getting the series, watching them in order an.. well.. actually see them ALL. Whatever you choose: have a happy time watching Dr. Who!

  6. This is a more major upgrade than it first seems on Ubuntu Gets a New Visual Identity · · Score: 1

If to get really serious, they should choose one side for the window control buttons and stick with it for eternity. This issue is NOT just to wink away with a "Cool, new theme! But I can change it anytime"-comment.

The big competitors to Ubuntu (besides other Linux distros), Windows and Mac OS, has learned this a long time ago. People knows how it looks like and exactly how to use it. I'm not saying this theme change is a bad thing (personally, I think the lighter one is actually beautiful), but for the average user, this should be seen as very major upgrade! Newbies will find it hard to see why the buttons are moved if they would change that again.

"Why did they change the computer? They said Ubuntu was free and easy to use, but they change my computer all the time! I want my other computer back! What was it called again, Windows something.."

Keynote? Does this imply this guy is promoting an operating system he still doesn't belive in?

  8. "Experts" in Sweden on Searching Google, Where Internet Access is Scarce · · Score: 1

There is actually a service for this in Sweden, where a company has made it possible for anyone to send a text message to a certain number, where an "expert" (read: trained Googler) answers everything in his/her answer (also by SMS). I have not looked up if there's any audible operator available for the same task, but there certainly would be if the larger market asked for it.

  15. Is it legal? on Apple Cuts Off Linux iPod Users · · Score: 1

Hey, of course this move is moraly discussable, but is it even legal? Most countries (if not all) says "you can't write viruses" because that's destructive in various ways. But I've heard that the opposite is more or like encouraged: if there's a way of updating, fixing or adding features that all benefits the user - then of course you can! Therefore: if Apple adds software (or hardware) that disables earlier functionality and spoils proper use of a device, it should actually be classed as a virus! Be sure to right me if I'm totally wrong, though..

To say "I will not vote in this election, beacuse I don't care" is like saying "...because I like it the way it is". That is a grave mistake. Everyone has an opinion and if a government has gone too far away from his or her values and beliefs, it's time for a switch. And in a democracy, that switch can only be done in one single way - by voting! On the other hand, if you do like it the way it is, there's only one way to keep it that way - by voting! Summary: You SHOULD vote, my friend.
