Actually they have closed a lot of their stores as it seemed that they were bound to go out of business. However in the last year or so they have started making a lot of other products rather than just PC's. Maybe this will allow them to bounce back.
I switched to opera quite a while back, the main reason was because IE seemed horribly slow at simply functions, it should take up to 5 or 10 seconds to go back 1 page. When I switched to opera things run a lot quicker, the only gripe that I have about opera is that it occasionally crashes, and the CPU utilization thing, but I suspect that is a problem with my laptop - or windows. I use opera at work every day with no problem. I just download firebird and am giving it a run!
I suppose I need to change my listening habits to fit in. I once read a survey that proved nearly 2/3 of all surveys are are at least 67% inaccurate.

2000 will restart by default on a blue screen, so yes it is probably your RAM or a video driver.
Windows doesn't have ANY problems until after they release the patches to fix the problems that aren't there.
