Uh, it's nothing like outlook. You are just using a shell script to download the install tool. Just save the contents of the script to a file and look at it if you don't trust helix code. Or just download the website. Outlook is a place where you don't always have a secure choice.
Trust is the key, if you don't trust the installer, then why the hell are you installing the applications they are distributing? treke
Take a look at the enlightenment file manager, it works like this. Each window ha a typebuffer in it that you can use to type commands in. Something like *.txt would select all text files. Typeing a command name executes the command. If you wanted to print the sizes of all the files you could just type du -sh * | gless into the dir window.
Pretty hefty system requirements because all of the eye candy though. treke
Not recommended. I've tried them, and found that the upgrade to four can be much more difficult than updating to 3.0.5, the database isn't always converted to the new db3 formatt properly. treke
Get rpm 3.0.5 from ftp.rpm.org( DO NOT get 4 it is screwed up)
Get the Source RPM for XFree86 from rawhide. The binaries depend on much newer packages.
Rebuild the source with rpm --rebuild
Go see a movie
Use rpm -U to upgrade, you can usually ignore
Configure
This worked for XFree86 4.0, I'm on step 4 right now:). Remember, the rawhide packages are sometimes broken, if it doesnt work, try again in a few days. treke
Really?! Perfect timing, I was going to go buy a second video card to run my second monitor on in less than 30 minutes. Can you get it working in Xineram mode, where can I find working drivers? Will I be able to use 3d still? treke
The mozilla widgets themselves aren't deal with. My complaint is WHY THE FUCK are the toolbars blue. Come on, if I wanted bright I'd have bought an iMac. A good cross platform interface shouldn't be too outrageously different. On my Linux Desktop I have QT, Motif, and GTK apps, and while not quite the same the default appearence is similar enough that nothing stands out too horribly to make it flat out ugly.
Mozilla supports themes, but supposedly Netscape 6 will be a pain to get themes in out of the box, and I'd like to have support for things like plugins and Java that may not appear in mozilla in a full featured state for a while. Netscape needs to rethink the default theme before release and consider going with a more muted theme, kind of like the classic theme that shipped with a recent build of Mozilla. treke
Give up:) It really isn't supported yet. Matrox will eventually be releasing drives. Word on the street says that dual heaf performance kindof sucks. treke
But the 40-100 bucks for dsl is providing a useful service to me. The 150 bucks for another machine that is simply serving the DSL really isn't. Honestly I could afford the machine, although i could probably come up with something cheaper than 150 bucks, but for some people it would be an extra expense without much gain. Obviously support for linux would be much better, but won't likely happen if people were to just buy a Windows machine to logon. treke
We've got it here in the US, but my experiences with it have been bad. It was more expensive than a traditional line, billed minutly. The speed was admittidly better than normal phone lines. I had a time getting both channels to connect reliably, but they seemed to be a problem with Win95s dial up networking. treke
I'm pretty sure Matrox is the bad company. I've compared my old TNT2 witht he G400 I bought for Linux, and the TNT2 is by far the better card for Open GL(in Windows). I think the issue is that Matrox has historically concentrated more on their DirectX drivers so that they can add features like the g400s environmental bump mapping(never tried using it, dont know if it works.). treke
Take a look at efm. It gives you a good GUI file manager and the power of a command line all in one package. Want to delete a couple of files, click and drag them to the trash. Want to Delete All files with an O, just type rm -f O* into the file manager window. Gonski. treke
Gaim by defauly uses toc, but when you are compiling it you can use the development OSCAR support. Theres a bit of recent work on it at the gam hompeage. www.marko.net/gaim. Currently the developers are recommending against using the oscar support right now. treke
If he's talking about Windows 95, then it's possible. Win 95 takes 5-10 minutes to install on my home machine. 42 times does seem excessive, but possible. treke
This seems like a bad idea. Everyone should get themselves a copy, but do not post it! Andover.net had a big enough problem right now dealing with Microsoft, and this might be taken as a hostile move if this goes to court. Let the Andover.net lawyers work without outside complications. If MS wins, then it might be a good idea, although posting it on Slashdot could show a willful disregard for the ruling by the Judge. Maybe it could be posted to relevant news groups. Let's wait while professionals think this through, MS may still back down. treke
The idea behind giving the FSF(not RMS personally) the rights to the software is that it is for all intents and purposes without an owner. But the law needs to have one clear owner, so when neccessary the FSF serves that purpose. treke
Unfortunatly I use redhat. I've had good luck with the drivers for 6.0, but had some problems getting the patches to work with 2.2.12 when I tried upgrading to redhat 6.1. treke
It says that there are i20 drivers in there, is there any chance that the DPT SmartRAID V drivers might start shipping as a part of the kernel, or will we have to continue to hope that the supplied patches from DPT will work? treke

GPL Violation - NVIDIA

I would predict that NVidia is probably going to get some form of contract with Mr. Metzler granting them a license for a short time, and then replace it. No more violation then. treke
You're slightly off on point 2. During an interview with Scott Draeker(can't remember where though), he said that the porting was done without cost to the company, but a percentage of the sales did go the the owner of the software. There will be some people who buy the Linux version instead of the Windows version, but overall I don't think sales will be affected too much. treke

Unless I'm missing something, that takes two machines. Not everyone has or has room for two machines, especially a useless win98 box.

I think Mozilla is still using GTK. It's being used to draw the platform independant-ish toolmkit.
