Hey, dumbass. You can pay a little now to help society abort unwanted children, or a lot more later, if you don't. What's it going to be?
Why must society pay for someone elses decisions? If that's the case...why does society not get a choice in the matter of if we let her have it or not? If we're gonna pay...we should get more decision making throughout the process. She gets knocked up and can't afford it....society pays for her to abort it.
Now I happen to be pro-choice, I believe that the issue is one of balancing the rights of the Mother vs. the rights of the unborn child. I don't believe that soceity has a right to tell one person that they MUST do something to keep another person alive. The analogy that I like to make is organ donation -- can I be compelled to give you a kidney, blood, or bone marrow if I'm the only compatible donor and the alternative is your death? Of course not, my right to control my body is paramount. Likewise, I don't believe we have the right to tell a woman that she MUST carry a baby to term.
What about the father's right in the decision? He gets no say at all?
If that's the case..then to make things legally fair...if HE doesn't want to keep the pregnancy, and she does...then he should be free of fiscal responsibility of the child. That would be fair..no?
If everything is her decision...then let her support it if the father doesn't want any part of it...eh?
I propose we standardize things and call the point at which you can claim a person as a dependent on your taxes also the same point at which they are considered "alive". It seems a little odd that people insist that a growing fetus is alive, but you sure as hell can't claim a fetus as a dependent.
I tend to think of it as the moment that the "hit the atmosphere..."
I can buy any canon lens significantly cheaper from friends in Japan and pay for shipping than at any location in the USA. Canon is marking up HARD the lens prices for other countries.
Curious, to get an idea on what the savings would be...
What could you get the 70-200mm 2.8 IS II lens for over in Japan...what would shipping add onto that to get it into the states? I recently got a 5D3..and am jonesing really bad for this lens...it is about $2200 here on Amazon.com for the US.
Also, do you have someone in Japan to buy and ship to you...or can you order online from Japan and get them to ship to you...? Links?
I thought the Mexican healthcare system, was to come to the US illegally across the border, and get onto our welfare system...help drain Medicare, and clog up our Hospitals' Emergency Rooms....?
Linux, in all its flavors, is good for what it does. It will not run about 1/3 of the apps I need for work, and that's the main deal breaker for me - I'm not going to reboot 3x a day just to use Linux part-time on a machine, and I'm not going to have two PCs on my desk and go through the syncing mess that creates.
Why not do what many of us do...install virtualbox, or vmware, and run your windows or whatever in a VM....
I do this on one of my macs...OSX main OS....in VMs I have linux and windowws...so, in one machine I can run whatever I like....the OS is now mostly just a commodity...
... whether government officials are monitoring citizens' private Facebook pages and detaining people with whom they disagree.
Ok, now...1.....2.....3....
Duh?
Does anyone out there think they haven't been doing this for awhile? Who in their right mind doesn't think posts on FB are monitored, logged and evaluated?
Excuse me...someone is knocking at my door kind late....err......NO CARRIER
Because who needs a comfortable car that starts reliably and uses fuel efficiently?
I've got a decent job, and can afford the gas, so that's not a real concern of mine. Heck, I'm currently looking to by an old '70s muscle car for fun...with your basic 10mpg....
I have a short commute, so yes..it will be my main daily driver too. Why buy a fun toy, and only use it on the weekends?
How I miss the days of timing lights, carburetors, and cars that actually let you tinker with them on the weekend...
That's one reason, I'm currently looking to relive a bit of my childhood...and try to buy an older muscle car.
I'm currently looking at '74-'76 Trans Ams, 455cu 4-speed....something of an old school torque monster. Nothing much but an engine, and drive train to play with. And as long as you aren't trying to go back further and get a SD-455....the prices aren't that bad.
Interesting concept. I ONLY work...to earn money, to buy and do stuff that I truly enjoy in my free time. To me, a job is nothing more than a means to an end...
If I won the lottery today...I'd likely not even bother to come back to gather my stuff at my desk.....
No, I have so much I'd rather be doing with my life than spending 8 hours of 5x days a week working....no problem.
Awhile back, I went about 7mos between contract gigs....I had a BLAST those days, routine ones were wake up, walk the dog....go hit the gym for a couple hours, mess around, jump on motorcycle and go about town checking things out (fun to be a tourist in your own town if you live in New Orleans)...and about 3-4pm, I'd call and meet friends at a bar for beers when they were getting off work. Home, to make dinner, then whatever for the evening.
Aside from some money concerns towards the end...I had NO problem not working, and it isn't like I could not find fun things I wanted to do. I could do that forever.....and take the odd vacation if I needed a change from that weekly routine.
:)
I've never understood people saying that if they won the lottery, they'd keep working. They have no imagination or so I guess...
...legislation written by those companies must acknowledge campaign promises to at least some degree. So net neutrality legislation written by the ISPs for Obama would be more neutral than net neutrality legislation written by the ISPs for Romney.
Why would you think this? Obama has had NO problem breaking campaign promises yet. For a tech example, see his change of votes even before being elected...by supporting the Telecom Immunity laws with his votes in the senate even though he said he was against them....there are many others too.
Its basically a kludge from bygone days before DNS, and for 99% of use cases where you might think "I can use a HOSTS file for that", there are far better methods-- or else the thing you are trying to do is retarded.
Even allowing for your premise....
Why on earth would MS destroy a simple, well known behavior that users might indeed have reason to want to use? Why 'fix' something that isn't broken? Why break something that wasn't hurting anything else on the OS?
No harm in leaving a well known tool and behavior be.....but plenty of reason not to fuck with it, no?
Ahh......just make sure the woman is on the pill....
Then again...I guess it never hurts to be double sure you don't knock her up.....having a preggers girlfriend sure can slow you down trying to bang other chicks...
I will look into it...I'd like to keep the engine and trans close to original, but I'm not 100% hung up on that.....resto-mod is something I'm looking at...
You know, sadly enough.......just because he does P90X....he's pretty much now qualified as the MOST fit person for the job of running the US.......well, after Romney gets done with his term I guess....but hell, wish he was going for #1 spot...
And Obama was the most voted candidate. By your logic that makes him good, right?
No..not really. But he has had his chance, and has failed miserably, so here's to hoping someone else gets a chance in the oval office....he certainly couldn't do any worse.
Obama has not only given his support to the worst of Bush II's policies...he's downright giving him and Carter a race to the bottom for title of worst president ever!!!!
But wow...70mph is gonna feel VERY slow on the HWY.....I usually try to avg about 85mph in my regular car..and that's keeping pretty close with most traffic down here in the south.....especially along I-10....

What's the difference?
What about the father's right in the decision? He gets no say at all?

Sure...they should all have access to the services.
They don't, however, have a right to have me and everyone else pay for it....

THANK YOU for a reference to the excellent BOOK....rather than the lame movie of Logan's Run.
I loved the book, but can hardly watch the movie for how they butchered the story.....
No 'homer' in the movie....they totally messed up how cool the 'gun' was....

These days...I'm guessing I'm starting to top out on the Slashdot age scale....

I looked at all 3x links in the article, and didn't see the video on any of them....
Love a job?

Yeah..whew. That big, whopping $26 I'm getting back (before taxing it as income) is really holding those insurance companies' feet to the fire.
Hell, I piss away more that $26 any given night at a bar....

I've yet to find one that doesn't find them to be a turn on....YMMV....
What about this so called Pussy Riot?!?!?!?
Somehow, gentlement, I think we've managed to glaze right over this important part of the story.....?
