I think you're missing something: the rich person does indeed get a lot more from his government than the poor person.

The poor and rich both get the same protection from the same police force, fire dept...etc. They have protection under the same laws, local, state and federal. They can use the same roads and highways.

They don't see the value of an internet connection at home. They don't understand that not dressing nicely, having a bath and not being covered from head to toe in tattoos and piercings will quite often keep them from being considered for a well paying job with a future.
But hey..its a free country. Sure there may be a 'digital divide', but I think much of it is by choice. And if they want to do that...cool, have fun, but don't complain when you can't make it in general society with a good paying job. And no....society just doesn't owe you that good life. You are free which means free to fuck up too.
Then they will get you with some DMCA violation next for reverse engineering how it's hooked up, and you can be sure they will try to make it encrypted and non-circumventable (at least in the USA)
I'm not sure how they'll encrypt a physical wire you can cut and a physical unit you can toss out of the car.
In any case...I think with this one, you might be covered by the existing laws that do allow you to modify your own car...there are laws saying the auto manufacturers can't void your entire warranty just because you added on an after market exhaust system, etc. So, I'd think removing something unwanted would be ok, unless the gov mandates it, like a catalytic converter...?

Anyway, the players seemed borked right now...so, so much for my plan to try to play them through these boxes into a video capture card. I really want to mostly capture all of the whole tapes of many of these...some 6-8 hour tapes.
I'd like the raw footage...then try to edit it down for DVD's to send out to old friends for maybe new years this year.
Any suggestions on this? Are there any pro-places that don't charge an arm and a leg to copy off VHS to DVD or bluray?

Well, a weed is pretty easy to grow in your own back yard....thing is, several drugs can be easily grown or manufactured by fairly common people. Hard to get an OPEC type monopoly on something a fairly intelligent 'everyman' could make/grow.

That's not what our founders set up the US to do...especially on a federal level. It should be the individuals choice on how to live their lives. Freedom also means freedom to fuck up....

If they'd actually wanted to save money, they'd stop the "war" on some drugs and end a gigantic waste of taxpayers' money. The one I wanted to use..was a mitsubishi svhs I had...it had wonderful picture and the auto-tracking on it was about the best I'd ever seen.
but the transport of tape in and tape out...is the part that is messed up.

I mean, we have it on many boxes, but you have to run a ssh tunnel to the box to run VNC through to keep things a bit more secure.

Actually, they still help.....great for finding out where cops are, or accidents, etc. Truckers are great for information out on the road.
And the nice thing is...you don't have to get a license for a CB now like you did in the 70's.
