The most frustrating and scary part of the Libertarian party and/or people claiming to belong to it is their uncompromising stance on the hallowed "Free Market".
No, what really would happen is that Microsoft would have been sued out of business long ago. You see, misrepresenting a product would make you liable for fraud. And you can sue the bastards that misrepresent their product. I know that various "libertarians" claim that Bill Gates "deserves" his wealth, but given the way he acquired it, he and MS would have been bankrupt by the late '80s.
In the real libertarian world (I know its theoretical), any force you use on another person is illegal. It doesn't matter whether that force is one on one, one on many, or many on one. It'll all end you in jail. That is the only use of government, to enforce the few laws that would be needed in this hypothetical world.
Sorry, Win 3.0 came out in 1991 and it was a very big success. Maybe not as big as Win95, but the percentage increase in the Windows installed base was massive. It took them two more years to come out with 3.1, which was pretty much just bug fixes for 3.0.
Win95 was quite alot like Win 3.0 was supposed to be.
Another computer visionary with vague promises and criticisms. Instead of doing [insert clearly-defined practical thing here], you should be doing [insert vague semi-buzzword here, like "education", or "object"] and you should be using [insert visionary's product here] to do it.
And the comment's by a true fool. Unless you provided this idiotic comment from a teletype, you were using technologies Kay and his groups developed and/or greatly advanced.
But hey, you did get the first comment in. Nice job yap boy. I'd give post a minus 40 for shear stupidity.
Currently Microsoft's desktop PC market share is at 96%, with the closest rival - MacOS from Apple Computer - being installed on 2.8% of the desktops."
Looks like more pseudo stats from Gartner to me. Even if you believe that the statistics haven't been skewed (through a Microsft payoff).
I have purchased at least 15 computers with Windoze on them because I didn't want an off-brand PC. One still has Windoze on it, in a partition I rarely use. And I'm consulting at a place now that allowed me to wipe Windoze off to install a real OS.
First off I don't write code, but I think you missed my point. If you had to write a website, and to choose a "standard", or code that will work in 95% of the browsers, which would you choose ? I understand the code is broken on these sites, but that dosen't help me when I want to log in to check email.
Well, you also missed my point. There is NO reason why you can't write code that works in both IE and non-IE browsers. Besides, since you nothing about the topic, why the hell are you commenting on the topic?
Besides the 95% usage of IE is just not true. Sure it's on 95% of desktop machines, but I can guarantee that it's not the browser used on all those machines, and the percentage keeps dropping (you've stated that you use Mozilla).
And IE IS obsolete. It's just too bad you don't realize it. It's characterized by shoddy programming, bug infestations, it's a virus transmitter (along with the moron behind the keyboard) because of it's almost complete lack of security, and it's completely lacking new substantial features since 5.0 (or before).
Hey, just because MS sells tons of copies of Windows doesn't mean its good. And besides, considering that the median IQ is 100, I don't think that I want to be associated with the dregs that use Windows (and yes, I question the intelligence of ANYONE who uses Windows voluntarily).
If I was designing a buisness site, and had to choose between a "standard" or compatability with IE, it would be a no brainer.
Spoken like a true, lazy Microsoftie. And if I were your boss, which I could well be, I'd fire your ass. There are many ways to code pages that work well for all browsers, and purposely excluding some customers from using your site because you're lazy is a lousy way to do business.
Besides, IE becomes more and more obsolete every day it stagnates. And the only reason it's used so much is that people are too lazy and/or stupid to dump it.
Microsoft's genius lies not in their code quality, but in their marketing department . A study about how Microsoft markets their software would be much more enlightening; their code quality is nothing to which we should aspire.
You hit that nail right on the head. That article was nothing but a bunch of dreck from a project manager. Microsoft still is more enamored of featuritis than producing quality code, because its market is those of people that more interested in flash than substance.
The company has battered their users into thinking that software should be buggy and insecure for so long that it is acceptable to essentially all of their users (or as least the damn fools that 'manage' companies).
I mean, I would love to run a program that spoke gator.com's protocols and connected to their servers, reported endless amounts of bogus data to pollute and help render worthless all of their covertly gathered data that they value so much.
But I'm sure that some corrupt judge would find that a viloation of their rights.
One silly thing about review sites comparing AMD64 to anything else is that they are still running them in 32bit mode.
Well, since most of the Windoze crowd never need a decent processor, 32 bit is all they need.
I've also found that in Lunux 64 bit mode makes a large number of programs run much faster and makes the database I'm using (postgresql) usable for much larger datasets. Of course the applications I use are easily recompiled in 64 bit mode, so I don't have to wait for the software to become available.
Has anyone noticed that the "Institute" web site is a Geocities page?
Or that Jack Kemp is one of the esteemed writers mentioned.
Sounds like Alexis de Tocqueville Institution is another far-right looney farm. Ever notice how the right wing claims to be patriotic when the 'conservatives' were known as Tories during the American Revolution. Traitors back then, and still now.
Sorry, it's not just that PCs are cheap. IMHO Sun has forgot how to design a CPU. Or a chipset. Sorry, 1.2 GHz just doesn't cut it, no matter what IPC you have.
Since when are equal processor speeds equal to the same level of performance between processor families? I forgot, you're an Intel weinie.
- crap outdated components and cards at ludicrious prices (E.g., is that an ancient ATI Rage that they're selling for almost $500? Well, gee, in the PC world you can already get a GeForce 6800 for that kind of money.)
Toy boy, since when do you need ANY graphics card in a server?
You really have no idea what you're talking about and your post is disinformation.
Fools like you 'running' a hardware installation is why IT always looks so bad, with all the unreliable equipment and constant downtime. Cheap doesn't mean a damn thing if the software's always unavailable. And besides, this is the description of a small tower Sun's got:
The Sun Fire V250 server is a feature-rich server that offers up to 8 GB of DDR memory, up to eight hot-swappable, 73-GB UltraSCSI hard drives, six 64-bit PCI slots, four USB ports, Advanced Lights Out Manager (ALOM) software, and a System Configuration Card./blockquote
Somehow I don't think we're even comparing equipment that's remotely similar.
When expanded to properly display the album art and the new large-format videos, iTunes balloons to a size that is far, far to large for any jukebox. It's almost to large to gracefully use on a PB12's display (thank god for exposé).
That's one of the reasons that I still use Audion. I don't usually download stuff from iTMS and I haven't even got thru ripping half of the CDs and LPs I've got. So, I'm probably not a typical iTunes.iPod user...
It owned the light, easy and free niche four years ago. It's a different ballgame with postgresql now, but mysql has built up quite the following in the meanwhile.
Postgresql's always been a much better dbms than mysql. It's reputation always been based on query speed (for simple queries) and ease of installation.
No, I understood that. That's why I got in hot water with my boss for laughing at the IT Director when he told me they signed up for SA.
Jackasses never like to be laughed at, especially the extremely incompetent kinds.

Because the people that hate whatever it is are all Windoze faggots... and they have as much integrity as Billy Gates. But what would you expect from Gates, his father's a lawyer.
International Law? Judges can rule anyway they want. How do you think Bushy got in the whitehouse. And now that sleezebag Scalia is refusing to recuse himself in a definite conflict of interest. But what would you expect from a radical freak like that. Judges always feel they're above the law. Time to start jailing the bastards.
Sounds fitting for the warmongers in the whitehouse.

McCarthyism (when freedom of expression went out the window)
You should try reading "Traitor" by Ann Coulter (neoNazi on Fox). I skimmed part of it and she seems to think that they ought to bring that back...
Even this right-wing dirtbag David Horowitz (gee, I wonder if he's another Jew neocon) had problems with the book The Trouble with "Treason"

According to crooked right-wing judges, you have no rights when up against unethical businesses.

Why would booting to Linux be any more secure, for that user?
Maybe that there's not as much idiotware on Linux?
Yeah, call it Winblows 2004...

A Wap gateway is as hard as adding this to a file called .htaccess in the directory that you have your wireless files in:
# Mime types for WAP
AddType text/vnd.wap.wml
AddType text/vnd.wap.wmlscript
AddType image/vnd.wap.wbmp
AddType application/vnd.wap.wmlc
AddType application/vnd.wap.wmlscriptc
At least this works in Apache on *nix...
...and I always thought he was a 72 point dingbat. Not just loud, but overbearingly obnoxious.
