Because Intel used a non-free compiler specifically optimized for the X86 chips with cheating fpu flags to get those scores.
Because spec tests and most artificial benchmarks are meaningless and vary each time you run them.
"Come Longhorn, you won't even be the admin on the box at any given time - you'll simply know a password that, when prompted, you can enter for admin access just long enough to do whatever it was that needed doing."
Sound like Mac OS X Jaguar.
Admin accounts require additional access through a password prompt *GUI Dialog) in order to change system setting or install system updates.
Mac (2002) - MS (2006)?
If you are developing in-house software, the developers are part of IT. While it is not a good idea for developers to install into production, they should look after their own systems and test bed servers. This has two advantages:
1. Developers become familiar with how the production environment works so they don't promote unworkable solutions.
2. IT support/sys admins can't much up developers machines.:)
The problem with that theory is... all pcs from major manufacturers come with wait for it.... windows. This makes it the most popular by default. Most people do not seem to bother trying to educate themselves about alternatives.
If you look at UI features of Longhorn, they are borrowing heavily.
I'm a mac user but I also have an XP machine at home and I'm a windows/.net developer at work.
I'm glad to come home to a machine that has run without reinstalls or defrags since Oct 2002 when I bought my eMac.
Why do you care so much about what type of computer other people use? I use both PC's and Macs at home (PC's at work) but I prefer the UI and compositing engine (quartz extreme) of Jaguar to XP's Luna and GDI+.
Contributed nothing to the open source community? What about the recent enhancements to KHTML? What about the enhancement to Zero Config a.k.a Rendevous? I'm sure there are others.
Godwin is just a man. If we cannot outlaw cloning, how can anyone outlaw threads with the word nazi. If we cannot discuss the mistakes of the past, we are doomed to repeat them.

You can do all of that with a pbook or ibook and a terminal server.
Now the mac basher will come out in force.
Yeah but did Unix have sudo back then? The Mac OS X mechanism is kind of a gui sudo.
Of course OSX also happens to be based on BSD which is a type of unix if not Unix or UNIX.

I did not know intel made desktops? :)

Check out comp.sys.mac.advocacy. I posted a .CSS file that will block many banner ads in Safari.

Last time I visited the center of the earth, I found out the earth has a gooey nougat center. :)
