Although I believe, like many, that the RIAA has a failed business model that is struggling to survive, do we really need to post 10 stories about the RIAA to Slashdot every day?
Is it possible to moderate an entire story as -5 Flamebait?
I am happy enough to use Netflix to pirate movies. At $50 for a month, you can get nearly 50 DVDs sent to you, if you simply copy them immediately when the mail comes and then get them back out to the post office the same day.
If retail DVDs are an average of $15 x 50 discs for a month, that is $750 worth of movies in a month. 50 DVDs for the price of three:-)
Is there a system like this for music?
You could also just buy a damned book and learn everything you want instead of going to college. Especially when the courses are based on certifications anyway.
In addition to writing them down and putting them in your wallet/purse/whatever, I recommend creating long passwords that are easy to remember by putting 3 or 4 characters separated by something like a period --- for example 4dt35z2en is difficult to remember, but 4dt.35z.2en is not only a better, more secure password; it is also much easier to remember!
Three years ago I went to a community college for the computer networking program. The program was 100% Microsoft, and 100% certification driven.
By the time I graduated they were just talking about adding a Linux+ course (still cert-driven of course).
There was no mention of Macintosh anywhere. In one of my final courses, Network Integration, I did a presentation on emulation and virtualization, including Mac stuff.
Does anyone think that networking with Mac OS X should be taught in college networking programs?
I am pretty mad. I went and bought a dual 2.5 GHz G5 about a week and a half ago because I could have sworn that I read somewhere that Apple will give you a free upgrade if you bought your Mac within two months before the release date of the new OS. That was why I bought my computer when I did. But it turns out, they will only give you the free upgrade if you purchased your computer today or later.
After spending $3800 on a computer, it is pretty damn annoying to find they won't give a little room on this.
Oh well, at least I can say I was using a legal OS for a few weeks anyway *wink wink nudge nudge*
Seeing this made me remember one of the coolest and most underappreciated Nintendo NES accessories, the Konami Laser Scope http://www.nesplayer.com/database/accessories/lase rscope.htm
I wonder if this could be modified to work with today's modern computer hardware, it would definitely be a cool thing to still use today:-)

Programming a computer at 12 does not require genious. I was programming my first TRS-80 when I was 8. I would not consider myself a genious.
Probably only one or the other.
Windows is every bit as easy to pirate as OSX. Especially if you get a Corporate/VLK version of Windows.

11 years of research without a single backup? Sounds like the person was asking for it!
