Frankly, I'd like to see FireFox set with a default configuration to turn all the pretty crap off. Automatic resizing of pictures is the worst thing in the world. I hated it in MSIE and I hate it in FireFox! Get rid of it - its one of the things that urged me to convert anyway!
So because you get a few feauters (harmless?) turn on by default, you are abandoning it? Comon dude, are all the software that you use configured 100% the way you like it, when you install it?
I think the resizing feature i great.
I live in Denmark too. Denmark is a small country, so we haven't got local call or long distance calls.
This (small country) might also be the reason why we allready got these things working. I don't know about US, but every phone-central here have been converted to digital, so we can get alot of "cool features" (like # potability).

There are two solutions to your request:
1. Start the builtin firewall i Windows XP.
2. Stop the services (daemons) that are vurlnerable.
1. is the easists thing to do, but 2. is the more cool way to do it if you don't have to use these services in the future.
