Be careful about threading in wxWindows. About 6 months back I had to write a program using wxWindows and the threading gave me some problems. Most of those libraries are being improved AFAIK
Also worry about memory leaks. I am not sure If the code I wrote was leaking it or whether it was wxWindows, but hte programs did leak gallons of memory.
Not that I am an authority on wxWindows, or that it is a bad library, just a warning. Maybe some other readers have had experiences?
Would the guy who cut and pasted the NyTimes article into his post be prosecuted under copyright laws
Or did he think Anonymous coward really meant that??
Don't you think that it should have been called Linux for everyday use or something like that?
Especially because an Office PC is (arguably) expected to have Exchange, scheduler etc. installed? The book doesnt talk too much about all that A good book nonetheless.
Now based on all the posts, does anyone know how I can calculate how many people on/. are pro-gun and how many anti-gun?
Would you think geeks are pro-gun or anti-gun?
No, I don't belong to any market research, political campaign research or any other such group. Just curious
I dont think GPL should be called viral. Each License type has its own merits.. Hows my definition?
When someone thinks that code is just an implementation of an algorithm, (like universities seem to think), they use BSD. The idea being that algorithm is protected/credited by other means.
When hundreds of people contribute to a project and each one wants credit but doesnt want to feel cheated when someone sells the code for money without telling them they use GPL.
When people want to make money, like apple (or M$), they better stick to their own proprietary license.
To believe that a machine can be secured when everyone has physical access to it is....
What happens if somebody pulls out the card ? Or does it work like netware (Install the OS lock up the server and everyone is a client?) ?

You still have freedom to buy what you like irrespective of what others say.
Just as they have freedom to say what they like to buy
