  1. Talk to your IT department on Ask Slashdot: Do I Give IT a Login On Our Dept. Server? · · Score: 1

The fact that you felt you needed to create this server in the first place means that you and your IT department are not working together. If there is a need for something from the clinical side weather that is scheduling or medical records then your IT department should be working with you to get what you need. If you don't have that kind of relation with your IT department then you need to build it. If its your fear that the problem then you need to suck it up and deal with what IT's policy is. If your IT group is being difficult and not working with the clinical side then you need help find ways that to create a better IT group.

Don't forget that the IT department is a service group if they are not servicing your needs then they aren't doing there jobs. As distasteful as that might be to admins like my self that's the truth. That's doesn't however give the right to mistreat them just a reminder that they are there to facilitate the organization as a whole.

Cutting off the IT group is no solution, just the same as the IT group cutting out the clinical side is no solution. Work together and if you feel strongly enough about IT then step and and become a liaison between the IT group and clinician.

  2. What the porn industry should do... on Acacia Steps Up Content-Transfer Patent Claims · · Score: 1

I think the porn industry should get together find all the information they can of the sexual habits of whichever politicians are responsible for letting stupidity like this exist. Then grab them by short and curlies and blackmail the crap out of them and put to rest these restarted issues of DRM and the restriction of freedoms through the use of technology.

Wonder how they'd liked it if there personal lives were invaded stupid political money grubbing games.

  3. Re:Anything can be art... on Are Videogames Art? · · Score: 1

I agree the only addendum I would make is that game like Quake and UT are more likely to be concidered art for there seperate aspects of code and graphics not their combination.

  4. Re:Of course they can be estimated. on Can Software Schedules Be Estimated? · · Score: 1

Your forgetting that as much as they may be similar an architect has almost all the details worked before it becomes a physical structure. Programmers don't have that luxury sure they can get the bigger picture worked out but the details don't get figured out until somebody starts to code. You'd do better to compare the architectural design process to programming.

  5. It's not just a matter of age. on Does Age Really Matter? · · Score: 1

I think that your only half right. Yes experience is key but the other part of getting respect in an office is the attitude and point of view you project to the people you work with. As a very general rule the majority of students in the work force don't have the the attitude about work or the point of view towards the office that bosses want out of there employees. The fact that your asking about this and care enough to know more probably means your the exception to the rule. Having been in that position very recently and working with other people in your position I know it sucks. However truth of the matter is its not unfounded in most cases. Employers still need to have the accountability they can only get from full time employees. It sucks and unfortunately there's a good reason it is the way it is.

  6. Anybody remember D.A.R.Y.L. on Spielberg (And Kubrick)'s A.I. · · Score: 1

This is the second time that this movie has been mentioned on /. but I have yet to see anybody mention the 1985 movie DARYL. Sorry if this is redundant but the similarities should be mentioned. I'm still looking forward to the movie as Kubrick and Spielberg are amazing but the story has been done before.
