I see a problem with that. Making a low salary, the senator / MP / whatever is more prone to bribe and corruption, due to having so much more to gain. I say let them have a good salary and benefits, that way maybe that can attract some good people from the private sector, and bring some business sense to these governements.

In that price, almost half of it is sales taxes and other taxes to help fund for the roads. I don't know if you travelled in Quebec recently, but the roads of Baghdad are probably in better shape than ours.

Remember, you are talking about 2 different countries, with 2 relatively different law systems. Up here in Canada, we are faced with a overly permissive criminal system. If he does it right, that little bastard will go out in about 10-12 months. This is insane if you ask me. He should have had at least 10 years in jail and be forbidden to drive *forever*... but hey, what do I know.

Probably the worst job I had to do was to do a Y2K conversion of some shitty COBOL, CA/IDEAL and Assembler programs on a mainframe.
We had such a deadline that the project started in october 1999, oh, sorry, 99, and the whole shebang had about 200,000 lines of code. (with almost no documentation). To add to that, the management decided that this project was a at a good time to go from flat files to an Oracle database.

    We finished in march 1900...
