    Now, this might just be me here... ...but isn't this just a case of a writer trying to emphasize how smart he thinks he is? I sincerely question that the creators of these games spent any significant amount of time reading freud or looking into the deeper meaning behind "icky umbilical cord-thing". More likely, the process was something along the lines of "What creeps me out?" I'd love to see a good analysis of horror games, and the minds of their creators, and the reason why things are scary or not, but this is not it. I'd be very interested in learning why some people find the direct threat of shambling zombies scarier, whilst others find the altered reality theme of Silent Hill scarier.

    thought I've since calmed down after venting and no longer support my earlier idea, I felt I owed you a reply.

    "you" in this case can means terrorists and "yours" is used to euphemistically refer to any city in a country in the middle east, selected arbitrarily, and hopefully boasting a goodly supply of innocents.

    In essence if you can't beat em your way, beat em their way, only better.

    But as I said, I took a deep breath, had a walk, and am no longer genocidal. :)

    I know I'm not paying for any of those.

    I must say that my visit to upstate NY did little good as far as the stereotype american thing is concerned, but you have a valid point.

    Likewise, the dutch are not all pot head pornographers that kill babies for fun.

    In fact, I've never met more potheads anywhere in my extensive travels than i did in the rochester area. This was AFTER a two hour delay trying to get through customs at the airport... (long hair! trenchcoat! flew in from amsterdam! DEALER ALERT!)

    I'm pretty sure, that as long as you don't go around rabble-rousing and trying to engender a revolution, you'll be fine. And the worst they'd probably do to you in china as a foreigner, is deport you. It's the sensible thing to do.

    I'm gonna go out on a limb and state that they are very subjective terms, and the the people launching these "unprovoked attacks" felt rather WWII resistance fighters striking at an occupational force.

    Truth, oddly enough, is also in the eye of the beholder.

    Guns and Ammo manufacturers

    Car manufacturers

    The scientists that developed the atom bomb

    The Heads and Board of all government agencies

    Your mom

    Trees that produce solid branches that _could_ be used as clubs.

    etc.

    Sometimes the people that create laws need to get their heads checked, I swear.

    I guess we should distinguish useable skins from skins that are functional art. I know a lot of winamp skinners, and to be honest, useability is hardly foremost on their minds when they launch into their newest crazed creation.

    There are a lot of winamp skins that are entirely simple and useable though, with the buttons mostly where you'd expect them to be. And I tend to use those in the long run, because I don't want to spend time figuring out which of the facets on the anime-mecha-bug-zoid skin is the stop button.

    I don't see why he "invalidated" that particular guideline. Web Forums as well as many sites with a lot of content frequently include a "screen identifier" of sorts at the top of the page. and I find those exceedingly helpful, and am often annoyed to find sites that do not provide them.

    They tell me where I am, and allow me to go back, lovely things.

    Example: "Shinsen-Subs Forums // Staff Forums // General Team Chatter // Shinsen-IRC"

    aww yeah. love it.

    That's some pretty flawed logic there, just because Nukes haven't been used as often makes them less dangerous?

    I must say I disagree rather firmly with that. And just because "far more" people have been killed by small arms and improvised explosions so far certainly doesn't mean it's going to be that way forever.
