To make it practical, you need a cheap way of creating model data from real life items. You need a cheap 3d scanner. Without it, the high cost of creating the model far outweighs most practical uses.

No, that's not a funny thing. It documents everything. The privacy settings control the flow of information from you to other people, it doesn't control what facebook sees, collects, and uses*.

Theoreticaly some settings do specifically address what Facebook does with your info, but I don't trust them to not do it. Plus, there isn't a way to tell facebook to not use your information in a way they haven't created a privacy setting for. There really good at asking for forgiveness, rather than permission to do new things to you.

Yeah, as much info I have in there is fake, I can't convince my friends who grew up with facebook in college to fake everything. I didn't say that there shouldn't be an income guarantee. But I'm not capable of rewriting the laws of our global economy. I prefer to work with what exists than to try to radically change it. There have been worse systems in place, many of which came about from very lofty goals.

  8. Re:Musicians Can Make A Living on As Music Streaming Grows, Royalties Slow To a Trickle · · Score: 3

I don't think artists should be given a certain income level, but live performances aren't a garuntee of success. I pay for all of the music I consume. The last concert I went to was in 2003. I'm not a big concert guy. The bands I would want to listen to are only playing in a city, late on a week day night with bad traffic, poor parking. Its just not worth the effort. You have a much bigger audience that just wants to listen to music on demand. There essentially is no way to entice a customer like me to go to a show. The promotion of free music ends up being a lost sale, because that's what I really wanted in the first place the music, not the crappy stage show.

But like I said, its not a problem I created, nor one I can fix. A good number of musicians are just basically screwed. They'd be better advised to make a living some other way that pays better.

  9. There is no income guarantee for anyone on As Music Streaming Grows, Royalties Slow To a Trickle · · Score: 5, Insightful

Manufacturing workers in the US lost their jobs by the millions through no fault of their own. Thats the way the economy works. We aren't condemning anyone to poverty. If you want to do nothing other than make music, you get what the job pays. You can try to do something else to earn more money, if you'd like. The economy of a free society in uncertain times is a harsh mistress.

What? No, it is not. The *IAA have the FBI do their dirty work. Breaking encryption might require a warrant, if you're lucky. But the basic problem with something like Mega is that in order to be successful with those sharing copyrighted media, people have to know how to get the files they are looking for. Someone has to index the files stored on Mega. For each tracker, download each file check the contest with the key provided, then submit the dcma request.

The purpose is supposed to be to give Mega plausible deniability over what is stored on their site. Third parties might know which files are copyrighted, but mega itself doesn't want to know. So they can't shut down Mega for knowingly violating copyright. With deduplication, they'll have to take down all duplicates as well in order to stay kosher.
