My parents car got stolen from their driveway. The police found the car in a parking lot where traffickers stage cars for pickup and delivery to Mexico. They actually got prints off of the car and identified the suspect, a known car thief with priors. A warrant was not created for his arrest. My parents insisted on pressing charges, but the police would not do it. They also would not release the information of the car thief so that my parents could shop around for a government authority that was willing to do their job that our taxes pay for.
"Petitions suffer from being aye-only, lack identity and location verification, and appear to have other data quality issues.". Sounds like we could have avoided wasting taxpayers money and just posted these on facebook. Facebook suffers from the same things.
Extra revenue from renting to people with an EV: $0
What about extra revenue from renting to people with an EV whom rented your house instead of someone else's because you had an EVSE and the other options didn't?
That's +$2-3K per month easily.
=Smidge=
I fail to see how attracting someone with an EV versus having to rent it to someone without an EV makes any difference, other than that the EV owner will charge you more in electricity.
The only thing that might make more money is if having an EV charger would somehow decrease vacancy.. Anybody claiming any numbers in that regard is totally pulling them out of their butt at this point.
PT Barnum would be so proud. Would the AirBnB house owner care to show any type of business model where they earn their installation investment back. Seems like once again Musk has found away to spend OTHER PEOPLES MONEY.
Cost of Equipment: $900.00
Monthly cost of Electricity: $45
Extra revenue from renting to people with an EV: $0
Net gain: $-900 + $-45 per month
Smug sense of self satisfaction: priceless
Last I checked you had better have at least a BS from one of the top universities to get an interview and you're not getting into one of those unless you have good grades across the board and high test scores in one of the standardized entrance exams. Furthermore, they are only looking for self-starters, the kind of geeks that are self-taught would find any high school CS course extremely boring.
I am a self starter and I didn't find my High School CS class boring. I ate up the classroom assignments like candy. I loved solving any problem with a computer, no matter how simple. After I got done with the project I was supposed to complete 6 or 8 weeks later, I would come up with my own challenges and code them.
My poor CS instructor managed to do a great job with our class, most of which were people who were never going to get it, no matter how much they were babied along, and then there were a few of us that already knew more going in than she was ever going to be able teach us. But she basically gave us self starters free reign to come up with our own projects (or go to lunch early), and spent all of her time with the hopeless ones. We even helped her out trying to teach some of the ones who were having trouble.
The NBA is concerned about their representation as such, this is why they are working with expanding their profile as well as ensuring that communities perceive options besides sports and rap to get ahead. Beyond that they've funded the WNBA as well.
The NBA is working on their diversity problem by hiring whites and females for off-court and back office duties. However, the "talent" will continue to be black. This would basically be like Silicon Valley "fixing" it's diversity issues by hiring a bunch of African Americans for janitorial and lawn care services.
I'm just telling it like it is, not complaining, and I am no SJW. Hire the best person for the job. If African Americans are better than whites on the court, then hire them.
You don't get to claim discrimination when you're winning.
You're not winning when you represent 77.7% of the population, but only 60% representation at Google. Not that I am complaining. I say screw quotas and hire the best person for the job.
Right. Like the BASIC programming language that I learned in senior high school is relevant in the job marketplace today. Whatever these students allegedly learn about "computer science" in K-12 will be obsolete before the ink on their "job-ready diploma" from Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, et. al. diploma is dry.
Teaching you BASIC taught you how to learn programming languages. High School is not there to teach you a trade, even College is not there to teach you a trade. A College diploma is a license to learn. But if they taught you one programming language it will be all the easier to pick up the next one.
This is not insightful. The guys spotted the suspect while on the street in Brussels, and followed him to the train station, and then followed him on the train, and followed him to the toilet (ca an hour after getting on the train), and only then 'threw themselves on a grenade'.
All the people this guy had passed could have chosen to follow him. But only some american military guys did. I attribute that to guts, training and bravery.
And the fact that the military guys hadn't been through racial sensitivity training yet. If they had, they wouldn't have profiled him and everybody on the train would be dead.
How is this related to slashdot's supposed themes, this is just general news
Because people are going to get into a big debate about whether or not the heroes should have had guns, and that will lead to lots of ad impressions for Dice. Nobody will click on any ads, because nobody ever does, but Dice will still get some money for impressions.
but I'm fucking a woman into a long term relationship
But you're not fucking a woman who promised "to death do us part."
And what if he was? "Til death do us part" means that they can't get a divorce. They can't separate until one or the other partner is dead. That doesn't say anything about having sex with someone else. Heck, that doesn't even say anything about marrying someone else as well.
Now, if you had said "forsaking all others...".
He's happy to continue to be married to someone he doesn't respect while fucking around on them.
Who is to say that he doesn't respect her? If he is happily married I can only assume that he does respect her. However, every male spouse I have ever talked to has desired more sex from his mate than she was willing to give. The unfairness is that not only do wives not give husbands the sex that they want, but they also hold husbands to not going out and getting it elsewhere.
If I am typing numbers exclusively, then it is the right, on the number pad. If I am typing letters interspersed with numbers then it depends where my hands are. I can touch type in a sense, meaning that I don't have to look at the keyboard while I am typing. However, my hands aren't fixed in one position, and which letter I hit with which hand is dependent on the runup of letters preceding and trailing it. My right hand occasionally ventures over and may type B, G, T or 6, while my left hand occasionally ventures over and hits N, H, Y or 7. It all depends on the circumstances.
I play piano, guitar and bass and I think my musical style follows through on the keyboard. I tend to look at words subconsciously and figure out the best pattern to type them, just as I look at a group of notes and dynamically determine what frets and strings would make a group of notes more fluid.
I would also liken it to playing pool. When you are a beginner, you just hope to get a ball in the pocket. When you get better, you are looking for how to set up the next shot.
I like lots of games, but I am not sure they fit into a genre. I like games with a robust offline experience, and I don't like to play online at all, especially against people who have way too many hours and way too many dollars to throw at mods so you can't enjoy your experience at all. I like Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy, Skyrim, Lego Movie Adaptations and Gran Turismo. Don't care for sports games or World of Warcraft or online FPS.
I don't think this is very likely to determine if you go to religious ceremonies or gay bars. Garbage trucks tend to only run during the weekdays, so most religious ceremonies are out. They also tend to run during the day when patronage at bars is the lowest. They also tend to go directly to the garbage bins, which means very few plates will be read. Basically they will get plates of people parking on the street, or people driving on the street at the same time as the trucks.
I believe about the only useful information they will be able to get is that certain people are not home at certain times of the day, which will likely serve as a valuable information source for house thieves, and that certain people tend to park on the street, which will be valuable information for car thieves. The most likely statistic from this endeavour is a sharp uptick in car thefts and burglary.
"City councilman Johnny Khamis dismissed such criticism: 'This is a public street. You're not expecting privacy on a public street.'"
If your citizens have no choice but to keep their private property on your public streets, you better be ready for people to argue that, Johnny Khamis, you *piece of fucking shit*.
That's not even an argument. Your car may be private property, but it's still out in public on a street, and it had to be registered to get plates. Now, the people who park in their driveways, they're on their own property, they have a valid argument.
Exactly. It is the citizens fault for openly displaying a license tag on a public street. if they didn't want that information to be public, they should have taken their tag off.
How times change. I just flew IAD to SAN on a 737 (not sure which model but i'm assuming a newer one). I remember when standard equipment for cross country routes was larger planes as well. I miss it, being crammed in to a 737 for 5 hours is not very enjoyable.
Airlines could run one large airplane a day or they could run one small airplane an hour. People demand choice, so more flights on smaller airplanes are made. Also, Hub and Spoke has replaced direct for the most part, so the more flights you have the better the odds of getting you to your final destination despite the fact that your initial flight ran behind.
I will happily pay 10-20% more money for a direct flight. The airlines say that Hub and Spoke was demanded by consumers, but I think it was a cost savings for airlines.
When the 747 was new, we used to drive out to the airport, climb the stairs to the open-air roof and watch them coming down the runways.
These days the doors are all welded shut and you have to practically strip naked to even get to a window overlooking the runway.
What brave people we've become.
The Oklahoma City airport had an observation tower as well that my grandfather used to take us to and we would watch airplanes. But not anymore. Anybody with any decent superpowers would be able to blow up an airplane with laser vision or something, so we can't let people look at airplanes.
Come on editors. I know this site is US centric, but do we really need the flag waving? Aside from anything else it will polarise and divert the debate from the real topic, the 747.
Um, they are waving the British flag, not the U.S. flag. This is an article from the U.K. loudly heralding the retirement of an airplane which Boeing has not announced, as far as i can tell.
This is awesome. The suspicious xians are the only people stupid enough to believe in that made-up marriage garbage, and now their lies are coming back to bite them. They lie and say marriage exists and is real then they're proven to have taken that lie even farther. I love how every minister in the town I live in has been proven to have had an account there. That proves all of those Republicans are liars. Liars. Athena was the Greek goddess of wisdom which is why Republicans hate her. Again, lack of wisdom destroys their own lives and the house of lies their kind tries to build. Maybe this will slow down their war on women. This is even a bigger deal than the papers leaked from the Ramstein Air Base Affair.
Ah, so the whole thing where democrats were pushing gay marriage just never happened then?
Must suck to be in your town. 0 of the ministers in my town have been proven to have been on the site. In fact, 0 ministers anywhere have been proven to be on there as far as I have heard. So the town you live in must exist only in your head, and you must just be somebody with a hardon for bashing republicans and Christians with lies. You surely are one disgusting creature.
You ended your marriage at that moment, deal with it. You signed a contract and you broke it. Look for pity somewhere else.
I sure don't remember signing a contract when I got married. I sure don't remember any promises that i wouldn't sleep with anybody else. All of those promises are merely implied by our society. I've never cheated on my wife, but from a legal perspective, even if I had cheated, I still wouldn't have broken our contract. It's not worth the paper it's not written on.
> hacking them and dumping their data publicly is illegal
So? Laws that are in conflict with reality should be ignored until they are changed. There are lots of things that are illegal but morally right.
And hacking their website and dumping their data is both illegal and not morally right. So the law is in agreement with morality. What's your point?

Tax fares are regulated in many areas so surge pricing is not allowed in those areas. Only companies operating illegally would have surge prices.
