If you can find one of these black keyboards, post a link. Apple seems to have discontinued them and I haven't found any new "graphite" keyboards on the web.
Besides, I want the brushed metal look...not black.
I find the G5 cardboard box to be stikingly different from Apple's current boxes. It grabs your attention immediately. As for the G5's design...It too is somewhat of a departure, but distinctly Apple in nature.
Now, if only they'd show us the keyboard and mouse. Are they brushed metal? If they are, I want them for my G4
Has anyone seen the G5 keyboards? What about the mouse? With Apple's current fixation with brushed metal (one I personally like alot), I would expect that the design of the new keyboards and mouse is consistent with the G5 case. Nothing bothers me more than the fact that my grey G4 (MMD) has a white keyboard and mouse. I'd love to purchase a new shiny metallic keyboard and mouse for use with my G4.
Unfortunatly, the only way to max out at 1gb of ram in an imac by doing it yourself is to upgrade to one 512mb dimm when you purchase the imac and add the ther 512 later. A standard imac comes with 256 mb and is located on the motherboard (not user accessible). If you ugrade to 512 when you buy from Apple, that allows you to later add more ram to max it out. Buying the standard imac and adding 512mb only gets you up to 768mb total. The whole problem is that the imac has two slots for ram, one that is user accessible and the other is not.
I went to an Apple store last week and checked out the powerbooks. I fell in love with the 12 inch powerbook because of its styling...Hey, we're talking about Apples here! The 15 inch seemed dated to me as far as its appearance goes. Technically, the 15 inch is superior to the 12 inch. I prefer portability though, so coupled with its styling, I'd buy the 12 inch powerbook. As for you...you said you need one by the 6-30. I don't need one, so I am waiting. If you need one, get one. However, I am speculating that the 15 and 17 inch models may be restyled to look like with the 12 inch powerbook. Because of this, I will wait. I also want an imac, but that's another post!

DirecTV was NOT trying to purchase Echostar. Echostar was trying to merge with the up-for-grabs DirecTV. Echostar initiated the deal.
