  1. Re:This is only the beginning on How To Stop Piracy: Raid CD-R Moguls · · Score: 1

    Hi there.

I'm also a Mexican. And I also feel bad about this things happening in my country.

I don't know how to stop piracy. I know, and I want it to stop: I'm a software developer, and I really don't want to see my software beign sell by some people for 5 dollars.

But, it is funny that a CD that you can buy here for 17 dollars (more or less, but that's the average for a new CD) will cost you 7 dollars in Argentina, plus shippment. I have bought 2 CDs the past week, they arrived in 2 days, via DHL, and the total cost was 26 dollars (The shippment was 12 dollars!) Here, I would have paid 35 or 40 dollars.

I don't know why here, in México, the CDs are so expensive. But, as long as they remain that way, the people will be buying their CDs, for 5 dollars, in the piracy-market.

The solution isn't to arrest the owners of the companies that sell the virgin CDs. (or the drivers of the truck that transport them, for that case); the solution is more closer to stop the people that copies the originals and sells them. AND (maybe first!) to have prices more logical, real and affordable.

It is better to have the 50% of something, that having the 100% of nothing, says my father.

    Regards

  2. Isn't it funny? on MS Asking Makers of 'Windows' Software To Rename · · Score: 1

Even in the Lindows they say: "Lindows.com is not endorsed by or affiliated with Microsoft Corporation in any way."

They know that their name is going to cause confusion!

I think that if I name my product Windows [put what you want here] is because I want it to be related in a close way to MS Windows. I know that Windows is a normal and daily used word, but I think that if you see a product in the supermarket called: "Windows Cleaner" you will think, first of all (even seeing the bottle!) in a program that cleans your Windows OS, or files inside your Windows box.

Or I am the only one?
