The simple fact is, that electric cars are by far the only efficient means of moving. The ONLY real issue is the storage. Once that is licked (and great strides have been made over the last 15 years), then it is over for idea like the air car, gas cars, or even hydrogen.
The majority of the VERY rich, have said that they should NOT have gotten those tax breaks. As warren buffet pointed out, he got a much higher precentage back than did his secretary. Oddly, the majority of the top 100 richest ppl said that W/neo-cons should NOT have given that up, and instead should have worried about balancing the budget. And that was in 2001-2002 when all this was being debated. I guess that their (and ppl like me) being worried about monster deficits SHOULD have been listened to, then to listen to the ACs that ignore the fact that America has some of the lowest personal taxes. In fact, that is more true for the very rich.
Being somewhat serious now, I do wish that the pubs would go back to what they were before reagan. There WAS concerned about debt, protected the little guy, while not interfering. I mean it was the republicans that gave us EPA.
Personally, I have been a Libertarian for decades, but I see issues all the time. In particular, under a Libertarian dominated system, we would continue to allow China to do what they are doing, even though it is killing the west (though to be fair, under Libertarian, we could sue the gov and possibly win on this).
WHy without such wonderful ppl like reagan and W, America would not be the wonderful nation that it is. Heck, those two brought all business to Europe, Canada, Australi, China, etc. Prior to that, those places were just ran by tribal warfare. ANd they removed the debt that the dems had brought to America. Even more so, the stopped those Dem and liberal invasions and occupations of other nations, even the small ones. Yes, we really need to push such wonderful ideas like those from reagan and W.
baudea.
That is pushed and controlled by the Chinese gov. in the same way that Pravda is pushed and owned by Russia, or Fox News is pushed and owned by the republican party.
Point is, please stop picking on the Chinese. Let them as a modern nation continue to mature and prosper. They have come so far despite their numerous failures, and deserve our respect and at least a minor attempt at genuine understanding.
Sorry, but no. I have a lot of respect for CHINESE PPL, but for China, the gov.? Nope. Their approach is no different then it was 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 years ago. Basically, it is a totalitarian state that is AFRAID of its ppl. Otherwise, they would have finished tianiman. Worse, they are the ones doing major destruction around the world in terms of pollution, economy, etc. I hold them (and W) mostly responsible for the current economic situation. CHina was given a gift by Clinton in giving them MFN as well as into WTO. And they have reneged on their part (free their money and drop their trade barriers). Instead, they have actually increased trade barriers, manipulate their money to make cheap cheap cheap exports relative to all other western money, use no pollution control to keep the cheapest prices and are subsidizing various industries. Nearly everything that the Chinese gov. is doing is regarded as unethical as well as illegal in almost the entire world. If another nation (developed or not) were doing the same to China, they would be upset. I do not hold the chinese ppl responsible for this (unlike I hold Americans responsible for voting in W a second time).
Finally, Chinese gov. IS attempting to rewrite 64. It is not simply that they are keeping it quiet, but they have recently taken to speaking about it as these ppl were terrorists. That is re-writing. It would similar if American gov. stated that Kent State murder was because students had physically taken over a number of buildings, holding hostages, and was killing soldiers.
and I am not a geologist. These are rare earth minerals. The hard thing is that if you do some research about China and Rare earth, you will find that they posses the larges known ores of them. And just this fall, they banned most of them them, and then put limits on others (those that had mines outside of China rich with them). Why you ask? To limit their use to manufacturing in China ONLY. And where are these used at? High-end electrons (of which ALL electronics are heading), the high-end motors that will be needed for electric cars, wind generators, new more efficient generators for steam generators, etc, etc, etc.
Basically, we have China squeezing the west on one side, and dems squeezing on the other. Worse, I bet that EU will do the same. And does this help those in the middle? I seriously doubt it.
Only if it involves helping these ppl create their own businesses. For far far too long, we simply give goods, foods, support as an act of charity. What these ppl need are businesses to help them thrive. It would also provide incentives for these soldier to put down their guns.
China will simply be the ones to go in there and own it. ANd they will pay far less if EU and America pull out. So now, it will be even harsher, at least for a time, because there is less money in the region.
You hit this on the head; This, like Kyoto will be a total Joke. Even now EU has shown exactly what nations will do with all of this; Each nation is posturing to be dumbing more CO2 than what they really do (initial credits were based on it). Now, they are each claiming to have more ppl than they do and have made more cuts than they really have.
The best, and probably the ONLY workable approach is to tax ALL goods based on where they come from and how much CO2 comes from that area. That is trivial to check (satellites), and is easy to calculate (CO2 per sqr km). It should probably include some factor for GDP. If oyu do that, it forces ALL NATIONS to cut back, fairly.
It turns out that America did NOT give copyright protection to foreigners (but I thought that they had).
However, what is not mentioned by others is that NONE of the other countries gave copyright protection to ANY foreigners. It appears that the Berne treaty of 1886 was the first to give foreigners protection in terms of IP, though countries like England did not enact it until 1980's. OTH, in 1891, America passed its international copyright act. But it appears that it was used as a tool (similar to how we wield MFN today).
Have they been caught red handed? Probably. They have certainly been caught obstructing freedom of information requests (with a group of them emailing each other making sure they ALL deleted their shit.) Will this matter? Probably not. Politicians don't give a shit whats true and whats not. Global Warming is a chance to regulate everybody on the planet.
Actually, if we are lucky, this will change things. I would like to see far far more openness about this issue. The world needs to see not just what is going on, and to understand why (or why not) this is true. Personally, I believe that looking out the window and seeing the ice (or lack thereof), etc should be enough to prove global warming. But even I have to say that it being mostly or all man-made can be hard to swallow. It seems only fair that if we are going to change a great deal that this be in the open.
Exactly. That is why a SIMPLE and FAIR approach to this needs to be done. The idea of basing it on the number of ppl has to be one of the stupidest ideas that I have ever seen occur. Worse, it will lead to many nations lying all the time. Instead, it needs to be simple to verify and relevant to the issue. Ultimately, it seems like it should be based on land mass combined with GDP.
For starters, it is already KNOWN and talked about that all that I listed increasing (all of BRIC, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Russia, etc) have increased. Likewise, it is KNOWN that America HAS decreased (though that is likely to be due to our economy that W gave us). And yes, you can google for these. It is easily found. But by how much? That is not being shown. The funny thing is, that it is not difficult or should even cause political issues. So why not release it?
That crap has been out for ages, and nearly all on the list have been proved to be idiots, not involved with climate research, and in a number of cases, not even scientists.
It involves THOUSANDS of scientists all over the world as well as Glaciers, Polar Bear, Penguins, Shells, Hurricanes, etc. Yup, this little bitty batch of emails from many Gigs of email truly prove it. Why over on fox news and Chevron web site, they have the full story all about it.
are the new CO2 emissions files, in particular, what each country emits. Everybody has it up until 2006, but after that, it stops. Why? After 2006 is important information. For starters, a number of western countries have dropped emissions (particularly, America), while others have increased greatly (Canada, Australia, South Korea). The real issue that I would like to see is what BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China), along with Mexico, Venezuela, Iran, etc have done.
Actually, I just read that. It was interesting. But if you read further down, it says that neither side observed the copyrights. Basically, UK chose to ignore American copyright as well, and did the same 'illegal' printing of American Authors. It also points out that UK lost the majority of the money from this, since they had more authors. Sounds like UK should have enforced it on their side and then persuaded us to change.
First, we were talking about Copyright violations, which you correctly pointed out that it was new. Secondly, Statue of Anne was UK, only. Most of europe ignored it and were the main source of book printing. colonies were prevented from printing and many other items since UK/France/Spain/etc all insisted on that; colonies were raw resources while manufacturing was reserved for Europe alone. Basically, it was Europe that did the majority of stealing of IP, but it was from each other.
Secondly, America, like Europe had an IP system. JUST like UK(most European countries ignored IP), we paid attention to it and did observe it. And just like Europe, we ignored other IP systems. In fact, UK ignored all American IP as well. Most Europeans took the approach of trade secrects and simply used the crown to prevent ppl with knowledge from leaving. Of course, once a secret is out, that approach is worthless. IOW, Europeans did not file patents or copyrights in America, Canada, Australia, etc. They did not consider it worth it. Basically, America did NOT STEAL ANY IP from Europe. Why? Because it had none and did nothing to protect it.
NOW, South Korea, Japan, AND NOW CHINA were/are all signatories to berne act and belong to the international patent system. All 3 did heavy stealing of these patents/copy rights (and China is pilfering through trademarks and openly copying all of it; Chinese gov. looks the other way on that). This is out and out theft. Worse, their gov. did(china is does) not enforce it. The difference is that America DID observe the laws, which is that we had a patent system that was to be used and observed. Europeans did not use it because they believed in Trade Secrets and the use of the bribes to the crowns (similar to how America does it with politicians today) to enforce them, which America did not observe. Basically, America did not observe other systems anymore than others did/do.
To try and equate THEFT of today, with the situation of yesteryears (esp. while ignoring that the biggest ones stealing were other Europeans) is folly at best, and out and out "disingenuous".
Wow. Did not realize that those were cars. Thanks for enlightening me.
The simple fact is, that electric cars are by far the only efficient means of moving. The ONLY real issue is the storage. Once that is licked (and great strides have been made over the last 15 years), then it is over for idea like the air car, gas cars, or even hydrogen.

Something is really wrong when you tax a student while just having given massive tax cuts to the very rich in the last 7 years.

You are simply the result of the many worms working its way through the net. All Western DOD's are under attack and are actively targeted.

Well, first off, the world gov are all pushing CO2 emissions as being the big thing. As such, that data should be shown to all. As to the pollution issues, China and now India have massive amounts of smog that are carried around the world. LITERALLY. Yeah, that probably is keeping the temps down so there is a plus side to it. HOWEVER, I would like to see us get China, India, and other nations to quit polluting so much esp. with Mercury. IIRC, China emits almost 1/2 of the total mercury emissions due to ZERO controls. However, to be fair, a lot of the none Asian/ None USSR pollution is done for western companies. 2 of these 10 sites belong to Anglo and American companies, but are located in other countries.
