    only idiots would drop their fossil fuel taxes. Here in the states, we need to raise them. At the same time, we need to raise taxes on daytime charging of EVs, as well as adding fees to the cars.

    These can handle sudden increases in demand. Solar/Wind does not.

    This is because their current CEO, Pichai, is doing the typical MBA thing and worrying about getting the stock prices higher. He is not worried about long-term dividends. All in all, Pichai is pulling a GE, IBM, and Yahoo on Google.

    Actually, in America, our ice vehicles are decades behind on infrastructure support. We need to raise gas/diesel by  50/gal or more.

    Exactly right about Australia. It is for that reason that I have always said that America should be putting solar, wind, and nuclear power on our territories along with Hawaii, first. They have some of the highest energy costs.

    Comparable ICE cars to the model S get about 18-24 mpg. For the model X, they get around 15-20 mpg. For model 3, 20-26 mpg. These are not accord / ravs.

    It does not have to be all DC. You can still have AC, but smaller inverter. Just as most ups have powered protected plugs, AND unpowered protected , simply add 1-2 48V DC plugs. Of course then u would need special power supplies, but they would come.

    1) skip the fucking usb. Go with network. Or at least allow a usb/network adapter. 2) it is long past to have a direct dc line from battery to going past computer power supply. Converting from DC to AC and back is so inefficient. Instead have 48V connector and let power supply take it down. 3) ideally, rack mountable.

    He should be hitting Aluminum, Titanium, Rare Earths Minerals, and then steel. TI and REMS are controlled by Russia and China, respectively, while AL, is Canada, China, and Russia, with China/Russia dumping it on our market as of late.
    Steel should have had a small tariff, to encourage more steel production locally, but in general, the steel that comes here is from allies and it makes little to no sense to speak of national security on materials from them.

  14. The voter ID laws does nothing to create a paper trail. All it does is require an ID at the polling booth and to sign up. Oddly, the easiest way to cheat, is grabbing a mail-in ballot and fill it in, then mail it. Yet the GOP fights doing pix IDs on those.

    In America, Ft. Collins, CO, has a 50K watt radio broadcast from an atomic clock. This keeps all clocks that want to be, synced up correctly. It is something that all continents should do. 1-2 radios per continent would solve this.

  17. Fuck, the GOP admire the Chinese system. Trump and most GOP are working hard to stop the investigation into their treason. Likewise, they gerrymander as much as possible and fight.against fair election. Most do not recall, but when W/GOP forced computer election machines, many said we needed a clean paper trail to vet the machines. It was the GOP who fought it and actually tried to push a law that would prohibited the paper trail. Thank God that our intelligence world is loyal to the constitution, though they have had slips.

    OK, grants is not the right word. Basically, the GOP works to block any attempts to remove the monopolies. They likewise work to prevent any competition.

    The dems have not done anything innovative, but the GOP continues to push for the current system, which is a nightmare.

    twisted pair, i.e. ma bell, was broken up, but NEVER de-monopolized. The only place that was de-monopolized to a degree was the cell industry. And you will note that cell phones are CHEAP compared to the rest of of the industry.
    And which party fights against muni networks in all of the states, including mine (Colorado)?

    No, we need to remove the monopolies. Then and only then, will things straighten out.
    BTW, I worked for Bell Labs/USWest AT during green's break up of us.

    NN will not solve the real issue. The REAL issue is that the GOP continues to grant Monopolies to companies like Comcast and continue to support them. It needs to be STOPPED.
    The best thing is de-monopolize all of these companies, AND require that no state law should prevent municipals from building out their own fiber based network. By doing this, it restores competition. This is the TRUE solution to the issues that non-regulated ISPs have.

    by 2020, the mass migration will be here. ICE cars will be less than 50% of all consumer vehicles sold. The reason is that NOBODY will want to buy a vehicle for 30-100K and then have it be worth less than 5K in just 2 short years. Even now, Tesla Model S is outselling all of its competition in America and now in Europe. MX outsells its competition in America and appears to be on track for next year. M3? Just based on pre-orders, tesla outsold BMW, audi, and MB in comparable classes, and THOSE were the mainstays of those companies. The German car makers are finally panicking, and rightly. Germany's gov is now spending 10s of billions each year subsidizing the car makers to build out battery factories, and car plants.

    U do realize that the vast majority of EVs are charged by simple 120V/15A outlets. Yes?
    Those ppl are charging at work because it is FREE.

    oddly, less than 25% of the utilities offer that. And then you have some like Xcel here in Denver, which replaced a .10/kwh for 3 seasons, .12/kwh for summer, with a .18/.12/.08 rate based on time (1400-1800/0900-2100/2101-0859). We are using that, but Xcel really would come out on top if we did not have solar. Now, they are kind of screwing themselves and are asking us to convert back.
