Then u have SpaceX which is currently the lowest cost launcher and about to drop it further with FH. Then unlike other companies and nations, SX continues to invest into a massive reusable rocket that will put 3-5x the FH into LEO.
His next 2 ventures is to put up a massive constellation of SATs, as well as build a high speed train system. The SATs will actually get a manufacturing line that is supposed to allow for other satellites to be built. Whereas SATs normally cost $100-500M, his line will produce a sat for under $10M. This will change space economics all around.
Add in the hyperloop and boring, and we see a small number of tech companies that are forcing massive changes in space, and land transportation.

First off, nuclear does not have massive subsidies, except when u try to add the indemnity clause for accidents. Secondly, there is very little risk with an SMR. The reason is the reactors are prebuilt and checked at a factory. With old approach, it takes years to build reactors on site, test them, etc, which allows for the far left to raise costs with legal challenges, etc. With SMR, after approval, the reactor is installed in 6 months and running within another 3-6 months. And as to ROI, the ability to replace all shutdown and current nuclear reactors, along with coal and Nat gas, makes these very likely to be decent.

geo-thermal can already be cheaper than BOTH wind/solar with/without storage. That is a fact.
Why they are not being drilled is because it is hit/miss. IOW, we have lots of experience at finding oil/gas, so nearly all wells come up profitable. BUT, finding heat down below is a whole other issue.
NASA is pushing for us to put in geo-thermal with injection all around yellowstone to keep it from blowing again. This should be pushed by the gov and like wind/solar, given some subsidies help to get it going. At the same time, I would push for tax breaks for any oil well that is converted into geo-themal HVAC, if it has certain conditions (i.e. enough heat).

As to SMRs, I would pick the top 5 companies and give them 1B each to get their systems R&D, and tested/vetted. Then I would offer up guaranteed funding for 50 of these to be built, with limits of 20, 15, 10, and then 5. IOW, the faster you get your SMR out, the more reactors with guaranteed funding can be built. I might even say that each of these companies would get 1/2 of the funding paid for the first 3-5 reactors.

Then I would also try to get a STANDARD for controls and back-end. IOW, allow a company like Babock/wilkins to build out a site that would allow for say 5-10 reactors of which say 3-5 might be of 1 type and another 3-5 of another. This would allow for reactors that process thorium, or better yet, waste, to be added later on.

Facebook ? Who else has more than 50% of the market? Hell, who else has more than 15% of the social networking market? Here shows facebook with ~75% of the social networking market. The LOWEST that I could find was 39%, with you tube have similar so that the 2 of them owned the industry.
I would call that a monopoly.

Amazon? Don't get me started there. NOBODY competes against them except for Alibaba Group and that is because Chinese gov pretty much blocks Amazon while subsidizing Alibaba.

By breaking these companies up, into just 3 companies each, it would get competition moving forward. It is not as though they are going to shrink. They will simply become hungry and compete against each other.

BTW, when W/O bailed out GM and chrysler, they should have broke them apart into smaller companies and had them competing. Had that happened, we would have seen radically different results in America.

Secondly, trump can talk coal all he wants. But, the simple fact is that utilities will decide based on current AND FUTURE expected costs. We all know that coal is dirty and expensive. The last thing that an American utility is going to do is add a new coal plant knowing full well that today is the cheapest it will ever be, and it is STILL more expensive than nat gas, and wind.
Geothermal will be added because it requires drilling and trump will be here to help his buddies in oil/gas.
And as to nukes, we have more than 10 companies working on SMRs. America, in fact the world, requires new nuclear power. I believe that the GOP will push for subsidies to get these going AND probably install them in various places.
Heck, we are stupid for not installing nuclear power in our territories. Puerto Rico is IDEAL for NuScale's SMR. These are 50 MW in size and the cooling could desalinate the water. So many issues solved.
