Think a little faster next time and you can skip the state where you think this is a "victory" of any sort. This is just another example of miguel trying to kill of Linux so everyone can have windows because he loves it so much.
They don't support 64-bit windows either, so unlike with this silverlight crap you're not being unfairly kicked to the side. At least you currently have the option to run the 32-bit version that at least is fully functional unlike this moonlight crap that is never going to keep up (because microsoft will always be changing the spec) and will be full of bugs that no one will take responsibility for, just like the rest of the projects miguel starts.
The problem with killing Flash is that it will make Linux users second class citizens on the Internet if this silverlight crap gets a solid foothold. And nothing miguel de icaza does is going to change that for the better, though likely it is going to make it much, much worse.
Seriously, that guy needs to just go work for microsoft already! They can put him in a corner of ballmer's office where he can work on copying all sorts of microsoft stuff (they can get him a Xerox machine to make it easier) and whenever ballmer needs to practice a speech or an unhinged rant he can dance for miguel (who will clap with glee) or throw a chair at him (which miguel will probably enjoy).
Oh yeah, and if you're reading this miguel: FUCK YOU! Quit trying to ruin Linux and the Internet for the rest of us!
Just tell them source code is "the magic words" that make the computer work. I'm pretty sure most people have that concept down by now thanks to the idiots on television news so you probably don't even need to explain it.
Perhaps I should file a class action lawsuit against Sony and Nintendo over this. Neither my PS2 nor my Wii states on the box that they do not allow AO-rated titles to play on their systems. To the best of my knowledge it's not on any of the promotional materials as well.
Here's a free clue for you, buddy. Ratings don't stop any kids from getting anything. Hell, even an AO rating that will effectively ban Manhunt 2 probably won't stop it. I'm sure (whether it comes out watered down or not) that someone with a pre-release copy of the game will leak it to the Internet anyway. If you don't want your kids to have something or see something, then do your fucking job as a parent. If you're not up to it then don't have kids. It's pretty fucking simple if you ask me.
Why is it that any of you idiots care? If you don't like it, don't watch it or play it. If you don't want you kids to have it then don't buy it for them. If you think they'll get it and play it anyway, do a better job of being a parent and stop hoping that some ratings board is going to do the job for you. If you're not up to the fucking job, don't have fucking kids. It's really fucking easy.
Or you could just do like a sane person and realize that all this crap doesn't mean anything. You'll probably live a happier life without being afraid of moving pictures and natural biological systems all the time.
Don't know why you guys all think microsoft allows AO games. They don't.
Take Two could release it for GP2x, I guess. But I can't imagine it'd sell well and it'd have to take a serious graphics and gameplay (compared to Wii at least) hit.
Maybe you should stop being such a fucking sissy and being disgusted and offended by everything all the time. Personally I'm much more disgusted by the fact that we let people starve to death on the streets in the United States. Or that we allow mass genocide. That we allow millions of people to die because they can't afford a few pennies worth of medicine. Or hey, how about that time when we invaded a country that hadn't done anything to us and killed half a million people? Or whatever else you want to add, there are hundreds, if not thousands (tens or hundreds of thousands, probably) of things more disgusting and offensive than a video game with blocky geometry and blurry, low-res textures that depicts violence.
It's a fucking video game. The fact that you think it's ANYTHING like a store selling videos of children (real human beings, a collection of relatively few polygons) being abused is pretty damn disgusting in and of itself. You should seek serious professional help if you actually believe that.
What we need is something like the GP2x for home consoles. Where would you find someone with the money to develop such a thing who would also be willing to forgo license fees to deliver an open platform?
Just hope that the games for windows branding doesn't take off or you'll see a very similar situation with windows games. Which could always leave us Linux and Mac gamers, but I don't think we've got the numbers (even if all of us bought multiple copies) to support a game costing multiple millions (if not tens of millions) of dollars to develop.
You'll probably scoff at the idea of games for windows becoming a serious force in PC gaming, especially with so few publishers signing on so far, but stranger things have happened.
"Family" companies like Walmart? Give me a fucking break.
And they can't even sell the game themselves since it is illegal under the DMCA to circumvent the lockout mechanisms in game consoles and none of the console makers will license an AO-rated game.
Where have you seen these magic forms that submit themselves when a drop down box loses focus? I'll assume they exist since it would be unfair to jump to the conclusion that you are so stupid as to make up such a poor UI design. I would like to find out who is that stupid though.
To make sure that iPhone users can't view it. Before you douchebags attack me for being a troll or whatever, my websites have 0 viewers to begin with so it serves no purpose other than to make me feel better.
In related news, iPhone is going to bomb so it won't be of much concern anyway. Also, "Web 2.0" is still one of the stupidest words/phrases ever created on the Internet.
It's a page on the web. I think no one mentions it because most of us don't have a problem with the World Wide Web (sort of a dumb name, too) being made up of websites that in turn consist of webpages.
I'm pretty sure folksonomy is one of those words that's only used in that weird, ultra-insular part of the Internet where people get off on making up these retarded words and then feel superior for knowing them. I tend to think of it like 4chan, but more retarded and less useful.
Even if that had ANYTHING to do with this conversation, which it most certainly does not, microsoft only supports it because they don't own the pipes and it will cost them more to spread their monopoly to the Internet if they're forced to pay for privileged access. The fact that you even mentioned it shows that you can never understand the conversation going on nor what net neutrality is all about.
Any reason why they can't support multiple formats? How about Flash? Not that Flash is the best solution, long-term, but it does work natively across more platforms than either quicktime or windows media and it is installed on most web browsers.
What would be stupid is to continue supporting the microsoft monopoly and helping them expand it onto the Internet. This is about the long-term quality of computing, something microsoft is a very real threat to.
"Legally" downloading a song and burn it to CD is exactly the same "legally" as buying a CD and burning a copy of a song on it. It's the distribution of it that would be illegal, not the burning to CD.
Your ability to understand simple concepts: 0%. Stupid poster.

Wow, you just listed like the 4 worst things about Linux.

Or maybe charter schools just don't work, how about that?

I think they're copying from microsoft again on this "feature."
Yes, if we want slashdot to make money from advertisers and slashvertisers.

If every website told windows users to fuck off and come back with a real operating system the world would be a much better place.
If every website told IE users to fuck off and come back with a real web browser the world would be a much better place.

This is what happens when you elect idiots who don't believe in government but do believe in political favors.
