You know, you can replace that with just about anybody famous or not, and chances are somebody will agree with you. That doesn't stop you from being incredibly not funny.
[disclaimer] I am rather liberal, and dislike GWB as much as any leftist man. But come ON people. Harding was MUCH dumber than GWB. You know, mister "You'll have to ask my advisor about that tax thing. There was a book about this tax thing which was supposed to explain it to be, but hell, i don't understand the book!"
Is this a required step? Because I know there are times when I need to go straight into the Windows GUI - such as installing drivers to get on the internet in the first place.
Or, the best one ever, when Half-Life 2 crashes, it won't give the video back to Windows. So, it still works, i know it works, the mouse still moves, I can telnet into it, but damned if I can do anything locally. Usually have to reboot the computer - ctrl-alt-del is SUPPOSED to clear the screen, but nooooooo
Arson Smith? I used to work with you at McDonalds! Remember when we flash fried that whole cow? Or the ant colony? Yeah, good times. Nobody even noticed.

So... how do you go about doing this? Just thinking "Oh, when I click accept, the EULA really means this!" or do you hex edit all the installshield files beforehand?
They convert the face into 3d data (model/skin) and then render it later. The hardware requirement probaby isn't too high. In fact, I think they use the Doom 3 engine.
Read the rest of this thread. The orignal patent was granted in 1990ish for the force feedback technology. They originally made it for medical usage.
Also, the company most likely holds the exact same patents in Japan. Our patent databases are usually identical. They'd have to boycott them too, wouldn't they?
I would say to mod the AC up, but here's what he said:
"because the patent refers to a specific implementation of the vibration technology. Microsoft licensed it. Nintendo's rumble pack is a completely different hardware technology that was developed independantly (and a year earlier) from Immersion's "haptic" force-feedback solution. You can get controllers that use Immersion's solution for GC from Logitech."
Now, this post it too late to get modded up or noticed.
However!
There is a bug that's very annoying to me in Mozilla Firefox. If I click the middle mouse button on a link to make a new tab, until it has actually loaded the page, the adress for the page will not show up in the adress bar. In fact, if the page doesn't load properly (this happens often due to my connection) I will get told the document contains no data, and the adress will never appear. If it did appear, I could just go and hit 'enter' to reload the page. But, because it's not there, I have to go back to the original page and find the link again - and the original tab is most likely closed already.
So, has this been fixed yet, or is it a 'feature not a bug'. Perhaps they're waiting for version 1.1.
Excellent point. I didn't read the article, but perhaps, because the gene was mutated once, it had a 'predisposition' for mutation in that gene, and thus another mutation caused it to reverse? A fluke, but a possible fluke nonetheless.
The question becomes, how does a plant honestly know a harmful mutation from a benificiary one, in the span of one generation? Unless, the plants have some inborn performance monitoring system, and backup copies of genes. Very interesting, if true.
I boycott reality every day. It's called Everquest.

Because it's a known fact that brain mass has everything to do with intelligence. [/sarcasm]
I thought the april fools joke was Shadowrun 5, and the REAL on was 4th edition...
Yes, actually. I don't know if you caught it, but Cheney, after watching Donald Trump, fired Bush.
Then we need to amend the constitution. I was under the impression that the government was designed to be slow (albiet, not THIS slow) on purpose.

Right, and Duke Nukem Forever's on shelves today.
By the way, you get a free sled ride with Satan with ever purchase!

I wasn't expecting to get modded up. Why would I even care?
I understand that, yes, the US patent system has some major flaws. It's simply not in Sony's best interest to boycott the US.

1) Patent law actually works here. Other companies have recognised this as valid and have paid the licensing fees. Sony fucked up.
2) Sony's more than a game company, you know. Their 'sales' are much larger than just playstations. Ninty million, for one is chump change.

Current research also indicates that something not actually referring to real research done is 'funny', not 'insightful'.
You're assuming the slashdot editors read and listen to suggestions placed in comments.
Sure, just use Text-2-Speech on Wiki After Dark
So, then, in soviet russia, would you be on the joke? Yeesh, if that doesn't sound wrong.
